I'm sure there were more than a few twitter addicts who could not live without it for the few days when ubertwitter went down and gave the Twitter for BB client a try. </p> <p>It got me thinking. Was this an attempt to get more BB users to switch to the official twitter client? I'm not sure if it was totally successful or not. I'm actually betting most people who tried Twitter for BB eagerly gobbled up UberSocial once it was available for download. </p> <p>It may have even worked against Twitter in that there is huge interest now in UberSocial. And the official client is more of a pared down version than the feature rich (but ad-supported) UberSocial. </p> <p>I thought at first that twitter shut down ubertwitter simply because they were tired of them dragging their feet in complying with the terms of service.
