<p>Tim let me know about the public beta of BerryAddon from an unknown company called Twinkler Software Products. It is in free beta right now but it looks like they will be charging for it in the future since there is a registration page. It just popped up on the radar in the last few weeks and looks like a VERY powerful little tool that takes less than 90kb! There is really no other name for such an app other than an All-In-One utility.</p>
<p><a href="http://static.berryreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/berryaddon1.jpg" rel="lightbox[]" rel="nofollow"><img title="http://www.berryreview.co/berryaddon[1]" style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="121" alt="berryaddon[1]" src="http://static.berryreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/berryaddon1_thumb.jpg" width="http://www.berryreview.co/179" border="http://www.berryreview.co/0" /></a> <a href="http://static.berryreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/berryaddon2.jpg" rel="lightbox[]" rel="nofollow"><img title="http://www.berryreview.co/berryaddon[2]" style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="121" alt="berryaddon[2]" src="http://static.berryreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/berryaddon2_thumb.jpg" width="http://www.berryreview.co/179" border="http://www.berryreview.co/0" /></a> <a href="http://static.berryreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/berryaddon3.jpg" rel="lightbox[]" rel="nofollow"><img title="http://www.berryreview.co/berryaddon[3]" style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" height="121" alt="berryaddon[3]" src="http://static.berryreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/berryaddon3_thumb.jpg" width="http://www.berryreview.co/179" border="http://www.berryreview.co/0" /></a> </p>
<p>You can find the desktop installation files at this <a href="http://www.blackberryforums.com/aftermarket-software/197988-berryaddon-blackberry-handy-tools.html" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/www.blackberryforums.com');" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">thread on BBforums</a> and there is an OTA link (<a href="http://www.all4berry.com/ota/BerryAddon.jad" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/www.all4berry.com');" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">OS 4.5</a> | <a href="http://www.all4berry.com/ota/BerryAddon_46.jad" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/www.all4berry.com');" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">OS 4.6+)</a>. The latest version is 0.91 for the Bold.</p>
<p><strong>PS:</strong> I could have sworn we mentioned a similar utility before but maybe it is called something else since I cannot seem to find it…</p>

This is not the biggest upgrade in the beta but I really like the LiveTracker application so I was just looking for an excuse to mention it since the beta started. <img src='http://www.berryreview.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='http://www.berryreview.co/wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>I am not sure how useful the location sharing features will be once BlackBerry Messenger 5.0 is released officially but the tracking features are nice AND FREE! I just wish they would add in cell tower triangulation so it does not always need to use GPS.</p>
<ul>
<li><small><b>Free Download:</b> LiveTracker Mobile is available for free non-commercial use &#8211; <a href="http://www.skylab-mobilesystems.com/en/products/livetracker.html#download" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/www.skylab-mobilesystems.com');" rel="nofollow">download</a>.</small></li>

<li><small><b>Background Tracking:</b> Start LiveTracker and it sends the GPS location to our tracking server.</small></li>

Edwin let me know that right after we made that little announcement Sensobi updated their application from v1.4.432 to v1.5.459. I just thought it was worth mentioning since that article was pretty popular.</p>

The fact that a developer has finally decided on creating an app to backup to a SD card or the fact that S4BB is actually working on a cutting edge app. John from S4BB let me know about a new <strong>EARLY</strong> beta they are working on of an app called DataBackup. </p>
<p>I have been asking RIM and 3rd party devs for years to make an application that would let me backup critical information to my SD card. SmrtGuard made a few steps in this direction but the backup and restore options seemed secondary to their anti-theft focus. I used to be able to do this on my old Palm and Symbian devices without breaking a sweat but it was impossible on a BlackBerry..</p>
<p>Looks like the impossible will (hopefully) soon become possible. So far S4BB’s DataBackup app only lets you backup &amp; restore contacts from your SD card but it is a step in the right direction. This is version 0.0.1 so they do not guarantee that it will actually work. So proceed at your own risk! I am just hoping this goes beyond PIM and lets you backup stuff like bookmarks, notes, and other things that desktop manager or a BES collect.</p>
<p>You can download the beta by <a href="http://www.s4bb.com/the-beta-program/#databackup" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/www.s4bb.com');" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">entering in your name and email at this link</a>.</p>

I used to swear by the extremely pricy (~$99) Rove Mobile SSH until <strong>Rove STUPIDLY discontinued Mobile SSH</strong> in favor of their even more expensive $500+ Mobile Admin product.</p>
<p>Until now I have been using the free and opensource MidpSSH which has gotten better with <a href="http://www.berryreview.com/2008/10/09/custom-blackberry-build-of-midpssh-mobile-ssh-client/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">DeltaTech’s custom build</a>. Still MidpSSH leaves me wanting so I have always been searching for an alternative. I have not had a chance to fully try out PaderSyncSSH but I am hoping that it at least buffers input. The current version 0.0.18 is a pretty early build but hopefully it will continue to be heavily developed.</p>

They allow you to take pictures of your receipts and upload them to their service for later access. I guess you can already do this with your BlackBerry camera and offload them yourself but this is automated with easier ways to export the images.</p>
<p><strong>NOTE</strong>: Sadly right now the app only supports the Storm due to its sharp camera but 8900 support is already in closed beta. Just expect it to support 3.2 Megapixel camera enabled BlackBerrys.</p>
<p>Right now there are no details on the pricing once it is out of beta other than it will be a low monthly subscription fee. Check out the <a href="https://www.proongo.com/beta/web/index.php" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/www.proongo.com');" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">details at this link</a> or <a href="https://www.proongo.com/beta/web/try-it-now2.php" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/www.proongo.com');" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">register at this link</a>.</p>

<p>Its about time! The creators of Wordpress, Automattic, have released a public beta of Wordpress for BlackBerry. Both <a href="http://blackberrysync.com/2009/07/hot-official-wordpress-blackberry-app-now-in-public-beta-download-now/" onclick="javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview('/outbound/article/blackberrysync.com');" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">James</a> and Luis sent me links within seconds of each other so I guess word is spreading like wildfire!</p>
<p><a href="http://static.berryreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/blackberrywordpressapp1.jpg" rel="nofollow"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px 0px 5px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" title="http://www.berryreview.co/blackberry-wordpress-app[1]" src="http://static.berryreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/blackberrywordpressapp1_thumb.jpg" border="http://www.berryreview.co/0" alt="blackberry-wordpress-app[1]" width="http://www.berryreview.co/179" height="121" /></a> <a href="http://static.berryreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/blackberrywordpressapp2.jpg" rel="nofollow"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px 0px 5px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" title="http://www.berryreview.co/blackberry-wordpress-app[2]" src="http://static.berryreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/blackberrywordpressapp2_thumb.jpg" border="http://www.berryreview.co/0" alt="blackberry-wordpress-app[2]" width="http://www.berryreview.co/179" height="121" /></a> <a href="http://static.berryreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/blackberrywordpressapp3.jpg" rel="nofollow"><img style="border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline; margin: 0px 0px 5px; border-left: 0px; border-bottom: 0px" title="http://www.berryreview.co/blackberry-wordpress-app[3]" src="http://static.berryreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/blackberrywordpressapp3_thumb.jpg" border="http://www.berryreview.co/0" alt="blackberry-wordpress-app[3]" width="http://www.berryreview.co/179" height="121" /></a></p>
<p>It looks like the app will let you upload audio and pictures along with text but I have not had time to fully check it out.</p>
