Only reason I say yes because qnx use ROMS and anything with roms can be modified for an older Version according to how the person modify it if that true it smells like there with be loads of c/c+/c++ knowing how qnx run all I can do is cross my fingers

I'm not at all techy, but from what I have read about QNX it does appear to be very versatile and flexible... :) I believe there will be some degree of integration :)

I would have said no, but the rumored "superphone" might use the same processor in the BBOS7 devices so I don't see why not. Though with blackberry you never really know why they do the this they do

Valid point lets just see what RIM as up their sleeves but i gonna get the 9900 whenever it comes out, but the only way I'm gonna get a QNX based device or superphone is only if RIM somehow manage to get the dual core processor working on the QNX based smartphones.

I believe the OS 7 will be "upgradeable" (lack of proper word) to be a hybrid version of QNX OS. The OS 7 phones are meant to run on the HSPA+ network which for some carriers it's the same as 4G.

Now the QNX phone would probably run on LTE which technically is faster.

The OS 7 will not have the same processor/hardware as the QNX phone but I don't think it'll be a slouch either.

If you look a bit at the history of Rim's OS, it appears that whenever they launch a new OS (even though they declare it won't work on the older phones) a year later they somehow adapt it to work with the specs of the older phone. Example is OS 6 which is just now available for the Curve.

For sure the QNX phones will have different hardware and OS feel, but remember Rim is a vertical integration company so not only do they design and create the phones they also do it with the software.

It wouldn't be to Rim's advantage to not have the OS 7 be modifiable in some form to the QNX OS.

Yes, I believe as they have said in many interviews recently and as it has been speculated in these forums, that OS 7 will be a hybrid of sorts, a transition into the QNX... But if RIM doesn't make the phones multifaceted the public will, I'm very confident between RIM and private coders there will be a work around... :) but the OS 6 and under phones might as well be buried when OS 7 is released... I see very little time and resources being spent on these from there on...

I really hope your right about this ashley lol....but bury the other devices? They are a couple good blackberries from RIM they jus sucked specs wise haha.

I think RIM needs to seriously consider making sure the OS7 phones can be upgraded to QNX. Considering most Blackberry fans know that QNX is supposed to hit next year, why would they buy a phone that is obsolete the second you buy it? While I think the Torch 2 and Bold Touch are great improvements over current phones, I wouldn't want to get locked into 2 years with them if I can just wait a year for QNX. I am probably not alone in thinking this either. If RIM is paying attention they will do their best to make sure the OS7 phones have an upgrade path to QNX.

That's my point exactly i mean i really wanna try the new OS7 devices but why would i if i wait a couple months i will be getting a super phone?

dont think so...

it needs the "super-hardware" which, perhaps even 9900 fail to be par on

That is true Terrence but the rumour about super phones coming in 2012 and they are gonna be single core if they cant find a way to make the dual core work and not drain the battery. Arise the question why wouldn't QNX be up to par on the 9900 if it is single core?

Os 7 is looking to be upgraded in some fashion

BB addict you said in "some fashion" does mean we be getting something like QNX for the OS7 devices?

That said, I also really hope that RIM puts their foot down with the carriers and takes over the OS updates. There is no reason there should be a 100 different versions out there, some official some not, AT&T is notorious for being 3 years late with their updates....because they are SO concerned about ensuring the best customer experience...AND, I'm sure the carriers can still get their crapware on my phone some other way.

They could actually do that with the blackberry ID but the question is if they gonna do it? RIM can be so unpredictable at times.
