Brian, its safest to assume MWC on Feb 27.If they fail on that tbere are serious issues we likely don't want to know about.

In typical RIM style i expecy no advertising for the playbook, just a roll out.

I recently upgraded to the 9900 and I had my mind made up but didn't reveal any BB loyalty at all (except walking over to the 9900) and the AT&T rep sold it pretty well. He asked if I already had a smartphone, then what I was looking for and when I replied I was looking for a QWERTY keyboard, he said that the 9900 was in his mind the best keyboard available and that he was actually impressed with it enough that he was using a 9900. I then asked if AT&T was going to be offering any new Blackberry devices soon, the 9790, and he said probably not until year end or 2013 but he didn't say anything like "we're holding out for BB 10 devices" or "Blackberry is coming out with a new OS and the devices are coming out...".

...then again, after 2011, why announce anything? They didn't make the original playbook date, then the infamous native email in 60 days...what other deadlines did they fail to make that I'm forgetting? OS10 was 2nd quarter '12 if I recall and now all I'm hearing is by year end...

1 week from the hard rumored 17th release date.

Less than 3 weeks before end of February

I am getting more pissed at RIM for not announcing anything.

Everyday that goes buy RIM loses customers.

WHAT THE FU*K!!!

This (<--- click here)is the kind of thing RIM needs to trumpet once BB10 comes.

The article points out that because of QNX, BB10 phones will be able to download and update the OS without ever turning the phone off. No other OS can match this. RIM need to screem this from the mountain tops and show all sorts of other phone downloading and rebooting to get the new OS.

Even if this is small practically they need to create the impression that this is a must and if you don't have it, your phone is out of date!

The kid said QNX without prompting from me so he knew something. Of course I think if BB10 delivers on Android Apps and eye candy these "kids" might just come around and say BB10 is cool.

The message here is that while RIM might think they need to appeal to "corporate" types the truth is most people come into those stores without a clue and those young sales people have a huge influence over phone choice.

Verizon head is so far up androids arse its not even laughable anymore. Verizons LTE is a joke x100. Not sure if that fool you talked to even knew what you were talking about unless he's an iBGR trooper.

I'll take a stab at this one since iOS is a POS in a walled garden. Overall QNX is better. app quality: No, Developer base: For now iOS has that. I don't think RIM wants to chase apple. I'm pretty sure they want it to be the other way around. Give the 75 million subscribers they have what they ask for, to survive this last wave until the superphones are on market.

I know OS2 is not BB10, but for those using the developer version I'd like to know if it is on par with the iPhone.

For example do we still see things like disappearing apps when too many are open? Do you see a lot of high quality Android apps in App World?

We've had some good games come but when I spend sometime with the iPhone I noticed some very useful Apps like the OED (dictionary) that seemed to be totally on the iPhone (not accessed via web).

Are these things there?

Really just curious and also want to set my expectations correctly. if OS 2 is pretty comparable to iPhone we can hope that BB10 will allow RIM to focus on unique things rather than catch up things (not a negative comment, I'm just really curious).

Thanks

I use Format Factory for converting pretty much anything. Definitely have converted videos for my 9900 using it. Haven't tried an iTunes video but I checked now and it looks like m4v is one of the types you can convert. Its a desktop app, if I recall its free and can be found on download.com or other sites. If I have the chance in the next couple of days, I'll try converting an iTunes movie on my own...
