- Well here in the UK at least that's academic, because depending on the network the bottleneck is actually the speed of the backhaul connection from each tower. Near where I live, even if I have the 3G tower all to myself, a connection never goes faster than 2MBps. Guess why ;-). Other places I can get more (all tested using a USB HSDPA 'stick' on my PC)
- At last Skype chat for BB for us all :-)
- Yes, the carriers should have access to a RIM provisioning system that allows BIS accounts to be deleted
- I don't think it comes with free txts. But it comes with unlimited internet and BIS service (maybe with a fair use policy?). So after you top up the first time, you can do email, surf, IM, etc and never need to top up again unless you want to make calls or send txts. The price INCLUDES the BB I think!
- Hmm. Haven't caught on perhaps only because all they're doing is encoding a URL that points you to a place to download the content OTA! Basically a non-human readable barcode that you can scan with your phone's camera. The whole premise is that is should be easier for the user then typing a well chosen URL (short? mainly all numbers even) in the first place. Clever idea, but needs to "change the world" to be useful so it's ubiquitous.
- UK users on any UK network currently don't pay to receive txts even if they are roaming. I choose if/how I repond. Many of the contracts here are starting to offer minutes and ulimited txts (in the UK) too.
