4. The white screen is a hardware issue. The video cable was badly insulated in the early models and they've fixed that by adding "electrical tape", but if that cable gets pinched too often, then the signal gets lost and you get a garbled screen which eventually stays white. As for the software side, I too would like to know what kind of automated tests they have. They must not be using too many humans if we look back at some of the big issues that have plagued some of the OS releases :).

7. And yet, all my BlackBerrys from 2009 onward (9000, 9700, 9780) have experienced the White Screen of Death. My 9780 has been on repair for 3 weeks because of that. So not only, these tests don't seem to be able to detect obvious problems, RIM needs to also get better at fixing them.

9. I disagree that the investment would be that big. Linux has been around for decades. People know how to make it secure. It's better than having a black box, even if it offers an all in one solution. And yes, I should have said that the US DOD has now certified an Android device. It's a small step, I'm sure there is more to come because it makes total sense for them.
