- Not to get into a bash war, but having come from a Bold 9000 (my first BlackBerry and I think one of the best phones I've ever owned) and looking forward to the 9800, I jumped ship to the iPhone 4. Yes, I miss my "real" keyboard and my LED light teamed with BerryBuzz and instant push mail . . . but I was not happy with the Torch 9800 experience. If / When RIM gets their act together and moves into the current realm of available hardware to support what we are expecting, I'll sell the iPhone 4 and be back - even at full price, with no contract available. I will not be an iPhone-boi, I still miss all the pluses that BlackBerry gave me, but the 9800 doesn't cut it for me. Come on Mike / RIM ----> Move Forward and give us the screen and processing power we want while keeping all the features that built you into a great company! I'll be waiting and still haunting the BlackBerry Boards, waiting for "that" leak that shows RIM is listening to the loyal fans out here.
- I say let UAE and Saudi Arabia go %$#@ themselves. They don't hold to the same beliefs that we do (although Washington D.C. has really screwed around with all of our freedoms over the last decades) and if RIM bends to their wishes - I'll be vacating the RIM platform very quickly. The Saudi's are (In My Opinion) the biggest "wolves in sheep clothing." they have no freedom - just the illusion of it.
- MobileCity has been taking pre-orders for the 9800 for the last several weeks.
- Just glad that Mike & Jim kept it to the facts - don't get drawn into the crap that Steve is trying to drag you through. Stick to the facts! BRAVO!
- I also find it interesting that - for the first time - Apple had a bumper / case solution one the first day of the iPhone 4 sale! Never had that before - they always depended on 3rd party solutions for cases. Steve - you can say it as loud as you want but Apple's actions will reveal the truth - Apple knew they had a problem before the first FanBoi bought the 4G iPhone. Just admit it - you guys dropped the ball and take the heat. The AppleFans will forgive you. (pass the AppleKoolAid, please)
- "Tell the Lie loud enough and long enough and - in this case - spread the mud, and people will believe it." All the Apple FanBois are nodding their heads in unison with Chairman Steve, asking to drink more of the JobsKoolAid! Bullshit, Steve, Bullshit: Clearly (1) A Poor design from jump street and (2) a case of form over function. Just admit it: Apple dropped the ball and made a mistake; Give the FanBois your $1.00 bumper solution and move on.
- I'm stuck in conflicting version hell. I installed via the OTA link provided and played with the program and generally liked what I saw. I went to their website to buy the software, saw a bundle that included several additional programs for a bundle price and purchased and downloaded that and found that my new Activation code would not work on the OTA version - due to the software bundle including an old version of Splash ID. As jychow pointed out, none of these versions work very well with Desktop manager 5.01! I've now send several e-mail's to Splash via their web site - but have yet to hear back. I'm certainly glad that they have a 60 day refund policy as I think I'll be filing for that very quickly! Nice looking program - poor implementation and software delivery makes for a very dissatisfied customer however.
- I, for one, will be looking very carefully at the 9800. I've had my Bold 9000 for the last 20 months (Longest I've ever kept the same cell phone), have struggled with the variations of OS 5 (not supported by AT&T) and I still love my Bold . . . but it's running short on internal memory, the camera is a real yawn and the browser is one of the worst I've ever used - but I still wouldn't trade it for any other brand. I'm think I'll be pre-ordering soon as I'm up for an upgrade in, ohhhh . . . can you say August 2010!!! Thanks for the delay to RIM / AT&T - or whomever.
- AT&T will "officially" release 5.0 when RIM has released 6.xxx! AT&T is so backasswards - IMO!
- Was able to run 3.0.57 on my Bold (OS 5) but my girlfriend's Bold (OS 4.6) suffered from the inability to save her settings. 3.0.58 fixed the problem. Great upgrade - worth every bit of the $1.99 upgrade. Kudos to Bellshare for developing such great software and for a reasonable upgrade price / policy!
