- Yes, many people fail to grasp that I don't criticize the other companies/brands because **I don't care** about them and their products. I am lashing out at the only company that has the potential to make something that I can respect and enjoy, like I used to, three years ago.
- FYI: moderators at BerryReview delete spam, extremely inappropriate comments and otherwise acts of vandalism. Honest opinion has always been very welcome here, no matter how positive or negative, including that of moderators. BerryReview is not on RIM, any vendor or any manufacturer's payroll, it is a completely independent website.
- RIM announces that the most obviously unfinished tablet in the market is going to be finished -- eventually, piecemeal. Ooooh, isn't that cool!
- 1) No hourglass? And you celebrate this like some big victory? It should have ALWAYS been like that! 2) I've had 4 BlackBerry. All of them had no hourglass out of the box, with nothing installed on them and BBM not running. Let's wait until someone buys this thing and actually tests it, I mean, in real life conditions.
- I'm pretty sure a lot of people has always understood what the Torch and BlackBerry 6 were supposed to be. They were supposed to be what they did not turn out to be, so people just steered clear of them. I think the Torch is nice hardware, but I never, for even a second, got excited about OS 6. It was obviously a dangling carrot to keep people waiting for the real thing, which OS 7 is not either. This announcement sucks because it will make a lot of people postpone their new BlackBerry purchases. No, this is not the case of every gadget that becomes obsolete after a while. RIM is different, RIM is obsolete even before their products reach the market. RIM take way too long to launch. This was the quarter when they should have released QNX on the phones ALREADY. By the time they do, competitors will have come up with something that will completely upstage RIM's QNX. Heck, many could argue that Android does that already. Being conservative or old school is one thing, boasting vapor innovation and being always late is a whole 'nother.
- Maybe it's a secret passage to an alternative dimension where RIM is a truly intelligent and innovative technology outfit with timely releases. Hidden out because it's still under development, and the world is not quite ready for that anyway.
- And (as Steve Jobs would say) one more thing: - Install any application that is available both from App World and the developer's Web site directly. Install it from the developer's Web site directly. - Uninstall the application. Take note of how long exactly it takes. - Reboot the device. Yes, reboot, you just have to, it's a requirement in the BlackBerry© platform. And wait several minutes until it is finished. - Install the application again, this time from App World. - Uninstall the application right from App World. Take note of how long exactly it takes. Or rather, place a watch and a camera next to the BlackBerry© before you go to sleep, leave the camera rolling and go to bed, check the video in the morning, because it is going to take FOREVER!!! Nothing wastes your time like a BlackBerry©.
- Well, how about this email I got from them weeks ago: "Dear developer, remember to participate in the BlackBerry Challenge campaign. The deadline is March 31 for you to submit your BlackBerry application. Step 1: Become a "Vendor" (*) immediately Step 2: Submit your application etc. etc. (*) This procedure may take from 3 to 4 weeks. You can only submit your application to BlackBerry App World after you have become a Vendor. 3 to 4 weeks? What is it, the Sears catalog?
- Do you really believe that the US government has no backdoor access to all BlackBerry communication? Come on. The Indian government just wants the same thing.
- All I see here is hassle: a company that releases an application at an obscene price tag. Then it takes quite a while to lower it to a price that is still remarkably high. Then it takes even longer to... lower the price to a reasonable amount? No! Now it's free, which makes no sense at all. And it's only available at App World for some unfathomable reason. Why bother? BBSSH has been around for a long time, it's always been free and open source, which makes sense, and the quality is excellent. Just don't upgrade it often, because rebooting a BlackBerry is a big pain in the ass. As long as you don't upgrade it, BBSSH is great.
