- BBM Music needs to be understood! This is what RIM needs to communicate to folks. It is really a different way to enjoy music you don't own. It is not a place to download a ton of music from your friends to keep, but instead it is a music sharing service between you and your friends! The more friends you have the more music you can share. I think BBM Music is perfect for discovering new music and sharing it between friends. Once you find something you like, you might still want to buy it, but at least you got the opportunity to listen to it and discover new tracks as long as you're paying for the service.
- RIM must have an updated PlayBook in the works that will soon be out! They must really need to clear out the old stock! I would have thought the prices of the existing PlayBook would drop once the new one is out, but it looks like they want to continue the hot sales! Getting more PlayBooks in the hands of consumers and developers cannot be bad!
- Actually, researching the quad-core Snapdragon APQ8064 chip is quite intriguing! It enables a world of possibilities. Qualcomm says "these devices will have significantly higher performance requirements, including support for larger screen sizes and resolutions, more complex operating systems, multi-tasking, multi-channel audio, HD gaming and stereoscopic 3D (S3D) photo and video capture and playback, as well as output in full HD to 1080P flat panel displays over HDMI. " Taking snippets from Qualcomm's website: The APQ8064 will: - Offer twelve times the available performance as well as 75 percent lower power than the first generation of Snapdragon processors. - Provide tablets and mobile computing devices with unsurpassed performance, battery life, low thermal dissipation and the broadest set of connectivity options available in the industry. - Deliver fifteen times greater performance with the included the Adreno 320 quad-core GPU compared to the original Adreno GPU, for a console-quality gaming experience, as well as rendering rich UI’s. Perfect for Cascades! - Provide up to 20 Megapixel camera support, and will internally synchronize two camera sensors for 3D video recording and will support external 3D video playback. - Share a core set of features, including a quad-combo of connectivity solutions (i.e. WLAN, GPS, BT and FM), support for NFC and stereoscopic 3D (S3D) video and photo capture and playback. - On complaint about the PlayBook is that it doesn't have "phone" capabilities, even when bridged to a BlackBerry. With video chat you can, but you need a bunch of friends who also have PlayBooks. Not even BlackBerrys can video chat :( Sad! You don't even have those friends you can call :(( The fix? Skype, or some really popular VoIP & video chat service. Okay, Skype! I'm not even going to suggest an alternative because everything does Skype except BlackBerrys. My kids PSPs do Skype! PCs, laptops, XBox, iPhone, Android... Get the picture? Everything BUT BlackBerry! There is a bunch of folks I cannot communicate with that I need to. RIM must work to fix that! The PlayBook, especially, as a collaborative tool should incorporate services like Skype to foster joint projects and just simply reaching out to friends and family. Here's a killer app for the PlayBook, RIM. Please make this happen!!!!
- SKYPE! SKYPE! SKYPE!!!!! I NEED SKYPE! BlackBerry is known for messaging and communications. Video messaging is the next level. We need to take the PlayBook and other BlackBerrys there. Isn't that why Microsoft bought Skype! RIM needs to step on this too. Let's make it happen folks!
- Good move, RIM! This will sell. Me FIRST :)
- I think Mike & Jim should buy doughnuts! They looked at the stock price and decided to appease a few angry investors. In the end, the "shake-up" at the top did nothing to calm investor concerns. Perhaps Mike & Jim should have listened to their own words of wisdom :)
- Although I am a very nervous that a shift at the top may hurt RIM and their focus, after watching this video, I feel Mr. Heins may be what RIM needs. I still believe Mike L. should have retained the CEO role and relinquished the role of President -- not both. However, Mike will still be involved in the company -- that is sooo crucial for RIM's success! I like what Mr. Heins said about innovation being key to RIM's success. It is and must be #1. I am so happy to hear him stress that. Nothing is more important for a wireless technology company in this wildly competitive space.
- What you said works for me as well, but RIM needs to turn heads these days. If RIM doesn't hop on the quad core bandwagon the competition will and RIM will again appear to lag behind. Remember when RIM launched the PlayBook as the first multiprocessing tablet? They turned heads. Even BlackBerry haters were looking at the PlayBook. Unfortunately, they've since found things to hate about it. Anyway, personaly, I just want something that works well and is very well built! For me, that is BlackBerry!
- I say we ban day trading! The only folks that benefit from wild-@$$ unqualified rumors are day traders. They're the lowest of the low -- parasites feeding off the sludge. They're not investors at all because they don't care about the companies they invest in, they just want to cash in on rumors. Unfortunately, too many investment houses are doing it. It's hard to prove so they continue to manipulate stock through rumors of deals.
