This has to be one of the most anticipated service packs for BlackBerry Enterprise Server. We have been talking about it for ages and jibi on BoyGenius has the latest scoop along with a bunch of slides showing the new features and considerations for the new release. I know I cant wait for my BES [...]

Pretty impressive forecast change made by RIM today. The have upped their previous forecast by 15–20%. I am enjoying what the information has been doing to my stock portfolio.
Read the release below:
WATERLOO, ONTARIO–(Marketwire - Feb. 21, 2008) - Research In Motion Limited (RIM) (NASDAQ:RIMM)(TSX:RIM) today provided an update on forecasted net subscriber account additions [...]

I have always been annoyed with every new device I get because of a simple reason. When you first register your phone on the network you will get up to 15 different homescreen browser shortcut icons on your homescreen! These range from upselling applications to ringtones to Music ID services. AT&T has almost 15 of [...]

I know many people already know this shortcut but after reading a RIM Knowledgebase article about it I thought I would share it again.
Many companies such as Fed-Ex advertise their numbers like 1–800–GO-FEDEX. The problem is that BlackBerrys do not have the traditional 3 letters per key of other cellphones.
This problem is simply solved by [...]

RIM has yet another patent tangle with Motorola. I really wish both companies would focus more of their energies on creating better solutions rather than battling themselves. Some of the patents are just plain ridiculous. For example, Motorola has a patent on mobile phones using WiFi. So far Motorola is suing RIM for 7 patent [...]

Just as a courtesy reminder for all AT&T users. I got an email from AT&T that the name@mycingular.blackberry.net email addresses will be going dark come April 2nd 2008. Until then you still have the automatic redirection but from then on out you will only have a name@att.blackberry.net email address.

One of our readers, Nikolaus, sent me an email about a new version of the BlackBerry Facebook application that is now available. The new version is 1.0.0.22 which is newer than the older 1.0.0.18. The problem is that nobody can figure out what changed in the newer version. Personally I don’t see the point in [...]

Frank Hayes of ComputerWorld.com asks exactly this question. After the outage last week many users (including myself) were grumbling about the lack of reliability. Frank opened my eyes to the other side of the coin:
The analysis is simple: The BlackBerry works, mostly. It’s cheap, functional and — most of the time — reliable.
Three hours [...]

One of the things I always wanted for BlackBerry was a pay as you go option. I was always hoping some carrier would come up with a SIM card that would allow you to pay only for the usage you use. Ideally the SIM would not have an expiration date but you get the idea. [...]

For the last few months every BlackBerry blog and many other news sites has been playing number games with RIM’s next OS release. First it was supposed to be called 4.3.2 but they the marketing guys at RIM got a hold of it and rebranded it to 4.5. Now BoyGenius is reporting that it will be 4.6? [...]
