One of our readers, Nikolaus, sent me an email about a new version of the BlackBerry Facebook application that is now available. The new version is 1.0.0.22 which is newer than the older 1.0.0.18. The problem is that nobody can figure out what changed in the newer version. Personally I don’t see the point in [...]

Frank Hayes of ComputerWorld.com asks exactly this question. After the outage last week many users (including myself) were grumbling about the lack of reliability. Frank opened my eyes to the other side of the coin:
The analysis is simple: The BlackBerry works, mostly. It’s cheap, functional and — most of the time — reliable.
Three hours [...]

One of the things I always wanted for BlackBerry was a pay as you go option. I was always hoping some carrier would come up with a SIM card that would allow you to pay only for the usage you use. Ideally the SIM would not have an expiration date but you get the idea. [...]

For the last few months every BlackBerry blog and many other news sites has been playing number games with RIM’s next OS release. First it was supposed to be called 4.3.2 but they the marketing guys at RIM got a hold of it and rebranded it to 4.5. Now BoyGenius is reporting that it will be 4.6? [...]

Personally I am never one to put much stock in rumors. They just get my hopes up for a product that we know nothing about. On the other hand I have found on multiple sources online that RIM’s co-Chief Executive Jim Balsillie has confirmed that a 3G HSDPA phone is right around the corner for GSM [...]

A colleague, Mark, just sent me a link to a great video on YouTube. He sent it to me after reading and agreeing with our previous post about why RIM needs a new advertising agency. According to him this is a link to some new stuff that started as a skunkworks project in RIM from some creative [...]

Seriously after so many years you would think RIM would have learned how to remove Single Points of Failure from mission critical services! While this is not going to make people run out and buy a Windows Mobile device it will reduce peoples confidence in relying on their BlackBerry.
From Marketwatch.com:
…the interruption was brought on by [...]

RIM finally released a press release about their BlackBerry Bluetooth Music Gateway (first seen at CES) today at the Mobile World Congress. You can read it below. The interesting part is that one of BBCool’s readers caught sight and price of the new Music Gateway on Tessco.com selling for $79.99. I guess that will be the [...]

nuTsie is not really a new service since it came out a few months ago. Surprisingly it did not spark the revolution and uptake that nuTsie was hoping for.
A short description of nuTsie:
nuTsie is a new mobile and online music service that allows anyone to listen to their iTunes music and playlists in hi-fi quality [...]

Remember RIM’s last ad campaign and our parody. I was just reading an short article on Adrants.com about RIM’s new advertising campaign. The latest is called Comedy Hits The Hotspot. I am guessing that this is in regard to UMA WiFi calling but seriously RIM could have at least chosen FUNNY comedians to sponsor! I [...]
