We usually gloss over RIM announcing their financial’s but personally I think this is the reason they announced two new devices at CTIA (8220 & 8350i). RIM wants to perform a 1-2 punch with the Bold release (internationally) and then the 8220 announcement in one quarter. They could really have the analysts begging for more [...]

CTIA has been a busy time for RIM this year. Together with Sprint they have officially announced the previously leaked 8350i which will be a welcome reprieve for anybody still using the 7100i or older devices. The device packs quite a few features including the lauded Push To Talk/Direct Connect.
The features include:
OS 4.6!!!

Every once in awhile RIM manages to completely confuse me. If you read the title of a press release stating: “AOL and RIM to Bring AOL Mail, AIM and ICQ Services to BlackBerry Smartphones Worldwide.” What would you think?
At first I thought that it meant RIM had finally removed all of the stupid restrictions [...]

Both RIM and T-Mobile sent us press releases announcing the new device last night. Seems like Doug was on the money. I just still can’t believe that RIM stuck with “Pearl Flip 8220″ as the name of the phone. Talk about a mouthful. I can already hear it now “look at that hot Pearl [...]

That is a pretty impressive number considering the fact that last year they only had 8.9%. The smartphone market has grown 15.7% over the last year according to research from Gartner and remain as 11% of the whole cellphone market.
Just for reference, Nokia went down to 47.5% market share from 50.8 last year and Apple [...]

Yesterday I got a weird email from RIM that really had me shaking my head. I have already gotten used to RIM spouting old news in their BlackBerry Connection newsletter but this one took the cake:
BES v4.1 Service Pack 6 was released back in the middle of July… What are they doing sending out [...]

I just received this notification from RIM on what seems to be quite an offer for students, at least when it comes to the Prize Offerings. The $50 bonus offer expires at 11:59 PM EST on November 30th. RIM reserves the right to terminate the offer before this date.
Trade up to a BlackBerry smartphone
We’re making [...]

These types of promotions seem to be doing pretty well. The promotion the weather channel ran a few months back broke all records for their website. They had more than a 35% bump in traffic and over 700,000 entries for their contest.
Douglas at BlackBerryCool spotted a promotion that RIM & Ford are offering where you [...]

Tricia just let us know that RIM has put up 12 new ringtones on their mobile.BlackBerry.com website. Nothing crazy here but I checked out a few of them and they were actually pretty good. Sadly there is no way to try them out from your PC but you can check them out by heading [...]

RIM sent out a reminder yesterday that the BlackBerry Developer Conference early bird registration discount is over at the end of August. In short that means $799 instead of $999. The conference is on October 21 and 22 in Santa Clara, California. The deadline for papers is today. I wonder if they got anything interesting…
