I grew up playing SNES. It started with MarioWorld and MarioKart and moved into Super Punch Out, StarFox, Street Fighter 2, and UN Squadron. Needless to say, as soon as I found out this SNES emulator was available for PlayBook, I sprinted for my PC, PB, and USB cable to get the retro goodness rolling! I chose UN Squadron as my first screenshot because it is a less well known game that I absolutely LOVE. Sidescrolling airplane fighting action with awesome upgrades and lots of challenging levels. I highly recommend it.

I already had the DDPB installer ready to go on my PC, so getting my favorite SNES games on my PlayBook was as simple as this:

Connect the PlayBook to the PC via USB

Start development mode on the PlayBook

Frantically find SNES roms for my fave games of all time (found them all here, but google can tell you more I’m sure)

Download the .bar file

Open the DDPB installer

Click scan and enter your password

Add the .bar file (snes9x-pb-1_0_0_5.bar)

Click install and wait for it to complete

Find the icon on your PlayBook, open it and allow file access

Add all your favorite roms (.smc files) to the roms folder on your PlayBook

Enjoy hours of SNES awesomeness wherever you tote your PlayBook!!!

Here are some more screenshots of my favorite SNES classics. Let us know what you load up!

For years, I was under the impression you could only install fonts with the assistance of an app. I recently found out that is not at all accurate. You simply need the a font in TrueType (.ttf) format. In this guide, for illustration purposes, I will be using the free (open source) ’Ubuntu-R’ font.

*WARNING: As we are editing/adding hidden system folders of the device, I can make no guarantee this won’t leave your device completely FUBAR. So please, only do this at your own discretion. I’ve only confirmed it working on OS 7 & 7.1 but it SHOULD work for all OS’ back to at least os5. Again I haven’t been able to test on many phones but I haven’t had a single problem either. If you are successful (or unsuccessful) with this method, leave a comment and let us know if it is working for you.*

One time setup

Download a file manager you can handle zip files with(rock file manager, filescout etc.)

Change options in your chosen file manager to show hidden files & folders

Navigate to ‘/Device Memory/appdata/rim/’*

Create a folder called ‘fonts’ inside of ‘/rim’

You should now have a created this directory ‘/Device Memory/appdata/rim/fonts/’*

*Note: Depending on the file manager, the directory ‘/Device Memory/’ may be called ‘/store/’. In that case, the location of the fonts folder would be ‘/store/appdata/rim/fonts/’

How to install a font

Find a font in TrueType format [.ttf] you’d like to use. In this example, I’m using the free ‘Ubuntu-R.ttf’

A) Download the ‘Ubuntu-R.ttf’ file (this specific font is in a zip folder) | B) Unzip if necessary

Rename ‘Ubuntu-R.ttf’ to ‘Ubuntu-R.font’

Cut/Copy ‘Ubuntu-R.font’ to ‘/Device Memory/appdata/rim/fonts/’

You should now have the (renamed) font located inside of the folder ‘/Device Memory/appdata/rim/fonts/’ aka ‘/store/appdata/rim/fonts/’

5. A quick reboot and the fonts should be available in your screen display settings.

*Note: The first time I did this, I had a font app installed & device encryption enabled and the fonts weren’t available after a reboot. If your having problems try turning off encryption before pasting the font or uninstalling your font app*

The font used for this tutorial is available for free here

DN pointed out to me that RIM slipped a little bit extra information in the previous tips we mentioned earlier today for developers to maximize their profits on App World. For awhile there has been a sort of unofficial way to submit your apps for consideration for RIM’s App World featured carousel. Now they have more or less made one of them official in their previous blog post. It seems like you need to pitch RIM by following the instructions below and providing the correct information. Not a bad deal though I wish it was more streamlined and merit/potential based:

BlackBerry App World Promotion Opportunities

There are many opportunities for promoting great apps or content items on the BlackBerry App World storefront. All you need to do is submit a proposal including specifics on why your app is great, what you are doing to promote your app, and which countries and device models should be targeted in the promotional campaign. Submit your proposal today to BlackBerryAppWorldMarketing@rim.com.

Please verify you have provided the following assets and information so your app is ready to be featured if/when the time comes:

Feature Image for your app (1920×1186.PNG) is uploaded on the BlackBerry App World vendor portal.

Feature Description (50 characters max) of your app is uploaded on the BlackBerry App World vendor portal in every language your app supports (e.g. if your app supports EFIGS languages, please provide feature descriptions in all 5 languages)

Illustrate that you are using the “Get it At BlackBerry App World” logo on your Web properties and linking it back to your app on BlackBerry App World – if you require this logo, or logos in other languages, please contact BlackBerryAppWorldMarketing@rim.com.

This week RIM rolled out a new version 6.1 of BlackBerry Messenger along with an update to BlackBerry Traffic anytime now. One of the nice improvements to BBM was animated avatars but RIM did not give much guidance on what the optimal settings are for BBM at launch. They have thankfully followed up with a knowledge base article that does just that:

When attempting to use animated avatars in BlackBerry® Messenger, please keep the following requirements in mind:

Animated Avatars are supported only by BlackBerry Messenger 6.1

Maximum file size: 32KB

Supported file types: GIF

Image must be in dimensions of a square, for example 30px x 30px, 40px x 40px, etc.

30px x 30px minimum

333px x 333px maximum

100px is optimal

RIM has also posted up some tips for those using BlackBerry Traffic who are having trouble hearing the new voice guidance directions on BlackBerry 7 devices. Here is the tip RIM gives:

When using BlackBerry Traffic 3.0 on a BlackBerry smartphone running BlackBerry Device Software 7.0, one may experience issues where the volume is too low, making it difficult to hear turn-by-turn directions.

There are several methods of improving the sound in BlackBerry Traffic 3.0. Some of these include:

Make sure the BlackBerry smartphone volume is at its maximum level.

In the BlackBerry Traffic application, go to Options > Guidance Options and ensure theEnhanced Audio radio button is selected.

In the BlackBerry Traffic application, go to Options > Guidance Options and ensure the Level of Assistance is set to High.

Use the 3.5mm headphone jack to connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the car radio.

Use a Bluetooth visor mount which can assist by means of a more powerful speaker.

Use a Bluetooth headset.

RIM introduced a slick new feature in BBM 6.1 that was just released. It allows you to have animated BBM avatars (aka profile pictures). These avatars are GIF files but they need to follow certain specs. Jay pointed out to me that there is already a solid source of animated BBM avatars courtesy of some hardcore BBM users.

Check out their gallery at www.bbm-animated.com or let us know where you found your avatars! Personally I have had some great luck just searching for animated forum avatars on Google.

With all of the PlayBooks floating around now after the “Mega-Sale”, it is important to know some of the basics in case something goes wrong. Whether we want to or not sometimes we need to Factory Reset our devices, and reload everything from scratch. Or worst case scenario we go to use our device and it is bricked.

I will start with the disclaimer, following the directions that follow, you will lose all data you have on your PlayBook. If your device is not a brick, you can easily back it up in Desktop Manager the same way you would a BlackBerry phone.

To start you will need to turn off your PlayBook. From there start Desktop Manager, and connect your powered off PlayBook to the PC. After a few moments an error message will show up on the screen similar to the one used in the title.

Click ‘Update’ and wait for Desktop Manager to do its thing. This process could take a while, so grab some popcorn. The whole process should be under an hour, but can vary. Once completed it will state it is finished and you can unplug your playbook. From here you will have to do the initial setup like when you first removed it from the box. Enjoy your factory fresh PlayBook!

Well now they have given a set of written instruction for all of the anxious rooters our there.

Ill throw the disclaimer in now, following the instructions that follow can permanantly damage your PlayBook, and BerryReview will not be held responsible if such actions happen.

First thing you will need to do is root your playbook with DingleBerry and obtain a USB OTG cable. You will also need the obvious, a PlayBook and a USB pen drive. The instructions that follow are from @guillemmateos and not of my own. It has only been tested on a rooted 1.0.8xxx PlayBook, so results with OS2 betas may vary.

Here are Guillem’s instructions:

When you have your USB OTG cable, you can proceed to run the commands to load the necessary kernel drivers. The nice part is that everything is already on the PlayBook, so you don’t really need to upload anything. The commands you will need to run are the following:

slay RIM_usbmgr-Winchester
slay io-usb
slay devb-umass
sleep 2
RIM_usbmgr-Winchester -m0s
io-usb -domap4430-mg ioport=0x4a0ab000,irq=124
sleep 2
waitfor /dev/io-usb/io-usb 4
devb-umass cam pnp blk automount=+hd6t6:/accounts/1000/shared/usb:dos,automount=+hd6:/accounts/1000/shared/usb:dos

The only line you really need to pay attention to, is the last one. It shows where the pendrive will be automatically mounted after you connect it. You can specify different mount points for different partitions just separating them by comas (in my example command, hd6t6 and hd6 shown)

The other commands just kill the USB server running and start it with the required commands to be able to run the USB port as a host port. There is also a command to load the kernel driver (io-usb domap….).

Last step – Connect your pendrive

If all went well, you should now be able to connect your pendrive and access contents on the mount folder you selected. Please keep also in mind that you must first create this directory for the automount to work. I also noticed that sometimes the kernel modules does produce a bus error and crashes. If that happens, just try to run all the commands again.

Guillem would also like feedback from other rooters about their success using these instructions and other OS version. I have a feeling this is going to open up a lot of doors and elements of rooting and be very popular in the community. Chime in and let us know what you think.

Scrid2000 over at OSBB has posted a great tutorial on how to downgrade your playbook OS using a local copy. Anyone who has been following the whole DingleBerry/rooting scene that has come to up in the past few weeks will know that the last 2 patches by RIM has blocked the root. These steps let you trick Desktop Manager into using a local PlayBook operating system to downgrade.

Chris Wade, the creator of DingleBerry had given us instructions on how to downgrade using an Apache server, and some of the guys over at CrackBerry had also been working on a method. But this method is for everyday rooters, who don’t have access to an Apache server.

Here is the link to the wonderful tutorial How to downgrade your Playbook OS using a local copy. And please remember that this is an advanced process that requires some timely actions, and any fault on your behalf could ruin your device(s).

Sometimes it’s the simple things. I’m the type of person who will go to great lengths to make something very simple happen, just because I can, or because it’s a challenge. While I haven’t Dingled my PlayBook yet, more and reasons to do so are popping up. Custom themes have long been a beloved BlackBerry feature, so the lack of theme support has been somewhat disappointing for those of us on OS 7 devices and PlayBooks. Even the shiniest of new toys have a tendency to lose their sheen over time without the ability to change things up and keep it fresh.

Enter Dingleberry.

Sith_Apprentice, a long-time member over at CrackBerry.com, posted this thread showing off his early successes changing the icons on his Dingled PlayBook.

Though there are no instructional details provided in the thread, Sith’s success has opened up yet another new sandbox for adventurous tinkerers to play in. It also comes with the <del>promise</del> hope of easy theming capabilities in the future. I can’t wait!

This little trick has been around for awhile now but I don’t think we have ever mentioned it on BerryReview. RIM has hidden a little popup in App World that lets you search for an app, game, or theme by using its product ID. You can find an apps product ID easily since it is the number at the end of the URL for each app in App World. For example, the App ID for Facebook for BlackBerry is 680 which you can easily see in the URL for it in App World.

To easily search by an ID in App World you simply hold down the ALT key while pressing the letters STST. That will popup the dialog you see above where you can enter in the ID. This is useful for multiple things like finding apps that are not compatible with your device or apps that have not cleared all the App World cache due to just being released.

Let us know if the shortcut works for you and what you use it for!

RIM annoyingly changed the shortcut to clear the App World cache on your device when they updated the app to v3.0. Previous versions just had to ALT+RST. One of our tipsters let us know that RIM has updated the official “How to clear the BlackBerry App World cache” knowledge base article with updated instructions for App World 3.0. Want to know how to clear the App World 3.0 on device cache?

To clear the App World cache on QWERTY devices hold the ALT key and type RSTRST. Annoying that RIM felt the need to change things right? It gets even better for Storm users according to RIM. For the BlackBerry Storm 9500/9530 the process is still holding the !?123 button until it locks and then typing 34(. For BlackBerry Storm 9520/9550 users you will have to press and hold the !?123 button and type 1?2.

You know, occasionally I like to play pranks and have a little bit of disruptive fun... Thankfully, the BlackBerry can be party to this… This one, is just a quick and easy prank that usually gets some very fun comments…. This will work for anyone on a blackberry model that allows you to use voice and BlackBerry Messenger at the same time, while you talking with someone else on a BlackBerry, who is on a model that will do the same. (Meaning mainly 3G/HSPA devices). Now, this does not work 100% of the time, but the 90% sure is fun, because most people never modify their profiles enough to nullify this one…

To Start, you will need to place a phone call to the person you intend to try this on, while you are using a headset, Hands-Free Bluetooth or the BlackBerry Speakerphone.

Now for the fun part. While you are on the call with them, you will need to ask if they are on their BlackBerry with it held up to their head and if not, convince them to use their BlackBerry that way. I’m sure you can come up with your own line for this, without causing much suspicion…

Next, while you are talking to them, open up your BlackBerry Messenger and PING them…. A Ping will cause their blackberry to vibrate against their head, usually leading to some very interesting return comments……… (I’ve noticed for a few, that it sometimes takes 2 or 3 PINGS before they react….)

That’s all there is to this one. Have fun and please leave a comment on the reactions during those calls….. LOL

For years now Smartmouth has been making it easy for BlackBerry users to add Hebrew fonts and keyboard to their BlackBerrys. Previously you had to reload the OS with multilingual OS that included Hebrew. Smartmouth simply extracts the language files and makes them available for OTA downloads from your device. He let me know that he has now made the Hebrew files available for BlackBerry 7 devices. I have tested it on my Verizon BlackBerry Bold 9930 and it works like a charm. He also has downloads available for other OS versions and devices.

I always enjoy bringing out the fun and unexpected, so here is another. Have you or someone you know ever wanted to manage more than one exchange account from their Blackberry? Activating your Blackberry on more than one BES is generally not common knowledge or practice, although your blackberry is definitely capable of being used on multiple BES servers and functions extremely well doing so. When you think about the way one can currently use BIS and BES together it does make sense, to be able to do this, as BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) is for most intent and purpose, just another type of Blackberry Server.

The reason this first crossed my path, was a client’s Admin assistant had a blackberry and she was asking if there was a way to provision this device to use two corporate email accounts. For myself, having just recently completed a BES 3.5 training session, I was eager to try. Much to the counter of the information available from RIM, as well as from the provider I worked for at the time, this functioned beautifully and we’ve been using this method in client sites, upon request, ever since. (Yes, I did say BES 3.5 as I’ve been a specialist with Blackberry products, for a long time…. :) LOL).

Anyways, on to the fun stuff, of how to do this!

What you will need:

- 2 BES servers (Personally I have one BES and one BES Express, but really it can be any combination)

- 1 Blackberry Handheld (mentioned in case this is not obvious…….)

- Either BES console access or Blackberry Desktop Manager access on a machine with the second MAPI/RPC mail profile available as a seperate profile.

The First step is to activate your device on the first BES, if you do not already have an active BES on it. You can do this through any of the usual methods of course. (Desktop, Console or Wireless)

The Next step is actually quite easy. Once your second account is prepared on the second BES you can activate it. Personally I use the wired method to attach my Blackberry to the second server, as I can re-title the account with the desktop manager (shown below) providing easy distinction of the accounts that I am using for sending emails, creating appointmens in the calendar and such. I has also done this with the BES console, via the assign device menu, but then you have to use other methods to distinguish the accounts in the drop-down menu’s.

The key for this type of desktop activation for the second email account, is having access to it with outlook, either via MAPI or RPC.

From the Desktop Manager click on “Device Options”

From the Enterprise Email Tab, press the drop down menu, next to Email system and choose the Secondary Profile.

From here change the Service Name for easy identification and escape and save.

Last but not least, once the above is complete, unplug your Blackberry from the desktop machine, wait a few moments for the computer to register the disconnect and then plug your Blackberry back into the computer. Your Blackberry should now start the activation process. If for some reason you receive the prompt to wipe your device, cancel out of that and let it continue.

You should now be able to select a “send using“ from either one of your BES acounts, as well specifying which calendar to add an appointment to or invite from. I hope you enjoy the added functionality and usability this brings and thank you for reading.

Since I started using my Verizon BlackBerry Bold 9930 heavily I have run into an annoying bug 3-5 times a day. What happens is all of a sudden my 9930′s back button decides to no longer work as intended. Instead it opens up the multitasking app switcher you would normally get when holding down the BlackBerry "Menu" key for a few seconds. When this first started happening I thought it was only my phone and the only solution I could find was rebooting the phone. When this continued to happen I reached out to a few contacts I knew had Rogers 9900s and Verizon 9930s and asked if they were experiencing something similar. It turns out I was not alone…

I have multiple confirmations from Verizon users who are running into the bug with the official OS 7.0.0.254 though it seems to be fixed in the unofficial leak of OS 7.0.0.340. I also have confirmation from Rogers 9900 users that OS 7.0.0.261 had the bug but the leak of OS 7.0.0.317 fixed it. At this point I reached out to contacts at RIM and have been trying to help RIM’s software engineers pin down the problem since they have not been able to replicate it on their devices. I will continue to work with them to help fix it but until then I wanted to share a quick workaround for this issue that does not require a reboot.

To fix this "back button bug" on the BlackBerry Bold 9900 or 9930 all you need to do is hit the "Lock/Standby" key on the top of the 9900 or 9930. If you hit it twice to lock and unlock the screen you will get your normal back button functionality. Hopefully RIM will be able to fix this ASAP because it would be a real shame for such an annoying bug to be in the OS shipping with RIM’s awesome flagship BlackBerry Bold 9900 & 9930.

Let us know if you are having this issue and if this workaround fixes it! I will keep you up to date on what I hear from RIM.

With the onslaught of new devices and device changes, there’s sometimes a need to activate your device on a Blackberry Enterprise Server Express. With new devices, BES IT policies, software upgrades, difficulties explaining to users how to download from appworld, software compatibility issues occur (as a good friend of mine recently mentioned in his article) and one looks like a star when they have an alternate method to do this. The point of this article is one such method.

On many carriers, when your Blackberry Device is on a BIS plan, the Enterprise Activation menu item is removed as an available feature. This is generally done by the change or removal to the service books on the device with it’s interaction with the carrier’s network.

Now for the fun stuff!

In order to get a BIS data plan Blackberry activated on a BES Express, when the menu item does not show on the device one needs to delete the device’s service books, reboot and activate. I enjoy creating these Step-by-Step’s, so I’ve written this article accordingly.

Step 1: From the main screen of your device scroll up and select the connections bar, or scroll down in your icons to connections.

Step 3: Escape to the main screen and type Service Books, or depending on the OS version, scroll down and click on Options.

Step 4: In options (or Options and Advanced), select the Service Book icon/menu list.

Step 5: Inside Service Books, highlight each one and either press the delete key, or as listed in the next screen shot, click the menu key and select delete. This needs to be done for each service book, with the exception of the Provisioning, which will not delete. When you see the above, select delete. Once completed, please reboot the blackberry.

Step 6: Once the blackberry is completed, go to the options menu for Enterprise Activation. Either use the search to find it, or options, advanced and enterprise activation, depending on your OS version.

Step 7: Once you have the Enterprise Activation selection, click on it.

For some odd reason RIM went along with Verizon in disabling NFC in the launch OS for the BlackBerry Bold 9930 on Verizon. Thankfully it looks like the lock is simply OS based instead of some service book. Adam @CrackBerry noticed that this latest leak of OS 7.0.0.340 enables NFC on the Verizon Bold 9930. There is not much a regular user can use with this but it does open the door for devs to create some cool applications.

I am simply waiting for an app that lets you share contact info by tapping phones…

I cannot confirm if this new BlackBerry OS 7 feature will be in all BlackBerry 7 devices but we have received screenshots and confirmation from two users of Rogers BlackBerry Bold 9900s that the feature is there. It lets you change you default search engine in the BlackBerry 7 browser. That means you can change it from Google to whatever you want. The BEST part is that you can even create your own! With a few clicks you can create a quick way to search BerryReview. All you need to do is:

Open the web browser

Hit the menu button and select options

Click on Manage Search Engines

Hit the menu button and select New

Enter in the name and for the address copy and paste one of the following:

To search BerryReview articles use: http://www.berryreview.com/index.php?s=%s

To search BerryReview Forum posts use: http://www.berryreview.com/forums/search.php?q=%s

NOTE: The way this works is you simply copy the URL from a search you would normally use and notice where the URL has your search term. For example for Google Mobile Search:
http://www.google.com/m/search?q=%s

You can then click on any of the available search engines to change your default search provider!

Slick right? Thanks to those of you who provided the screenshots. I really hope this feature is in all builds.

Luis asked me a bit ago what settings I had on my BlackBerry Torch 9800 for “Touchscreen Sensitivity.” He thought his settings were messed up so I told him mine was set for Tap Interval: 400 and Hover Period: 100 while his was set for 800 and 400 respectively. I had never really messed with these settings in the past so I decided to look up what RIM had to say about it. This is how RIM describes the two options:

Tap Interval: If you want the screen to respond faster when you tap it, change the Tap Interval field to a lower number.

Hover Period: If you want the screen to respond faster when you touch and hold it, for example, when you touch and hold the screen to open a pop-up menu, change the Hover Period field to a lower number.

See I could not think of any reason why I would want my BlackBerry Torch to be less responsive or respond slower so my first attempt was to lower these settings to the lowest possible of Tap:50 and Hover:0. This caused some erratic behavior with the hover action menu so I decided to bring the Hover up to 100 and then 200. I have been using this Tap:50 and Hover:200 setting for a little over a day and I AM IMPRESSED!

My Torch suddenly feels like a whole new device when I use the touchscreen. The action menu is now totally usable because I just hold the screen for a second to get options. You may want to play with the settings yourself until you get it right but please report back in the comments with your findings or experience!

One of the coolest features on the BlackBerry PlayBook is the solid Flash support. Over time I have been trying many different flash games and found that about 50% of them are loads of fun on the PlayBook. Some require a keyboard for movement or right click mouse button for options but most don’t. If you are hardcore you can even play those that do require a keyboard or mouse using Bluetooth devices.

FTWrath let me know about a tutorial he wrote up about how to save Flash games locally on your PlayBook and then play them offline. Here are the steps he choose to simplify the process:

browse to File 2 HD

take the link of your Flash game. We will test this with Magic Touch. As you can see I took the full website URL where the game is played.

Paste that in the File2HD text input area, agree to Terms of Service, and make sure Objects is selected. Now click Get Files.

you might have a few SWF files returned. Select either by holding down on them and selecting “Save Link As”

Now choose a file name and Save.

Here’s the fun part. To play the game locally

Fire up the browser

Open a new tab and type in File:// and hit enter.

Browse to > Accounts > 1000 > Shared > Downloads

Find the swf file you just saved and select it.

It will open your game in the browser. Bookmark the game and add it to Homescreen.

Now you can load it whenever you want and play offline!

Kudos to FTWrath for the tutorial. Let him know what you think in the forums.

Most people who live outside of the US and Canada have usually experienced BlackBerry smartphone and PlayBook apps that are not available in their country. While there are a few drastic things you can do to change that on BlackBerry smartphones there is a relatively easy way to bypass this restriction on the BlackBerry PlayBook. It all involves using HTTP proxies to make RIM’s App World servers think you are in the country where the app is restricted to.

Keeper was kind enough to list out how exactly to pull this off in the forums and I highly recommend you check it out if you have a PlayBook and live outside the US. It involves using free or paid HTTP proxies and is pretty easy to setup. Let us know if it works for you!

PS: If you already pay for a VPN service to access content in the US (Hulu, Pandora, etc) you may want to try it out instead.

Many BlackBerry users are familiar with the ALT+RST method for resetting the local cache of App World in your BlackBerry smartphone. David pointed out to me that this method also works on the BlackBerry PlayBook without the ALT key. You simply bring up the keyboard by swiping from the bottom left bezel and type in the letters “rst”. I have not managed to confirm with anybody at RIM exactly what this clears out and have not had a chance to do any extensive testing but let us know what you find!

In case you were wondering exactly what this does I would recommend reading my previous article about how App World is designed to be slow. In short RIM caches content on your device for up to 7 days. This should clear that out… hopefully. Let us know how it works for you!

Google and AOL just completed their integration of Google Talk and AIM with a roll out this week. Before Google let you login to your AIM/AOL account inside Gmail but now it truly is much easier. You simply add your AIM/AOL friends to Google Talk by using USERNAME@aol.com with their AIM USERNAME and you can chat from AIM to Google users by using USERNAME@Gmail.com with their Google Talk USERNAME. It really is that simple and will keep you from having two different IM clients open.

Its kind of a cool way to still keep in touch with your friends on another network while on your BlackBerry. You also don’t have to change any settings on either account. Let me know how it works for you!

Since Hulu in all of their wisdom has decided to block the BlackBerry PlayBook from streaming videos we are left hunting for them on our own. David pointed out that quite a few sites are still working on the BlackBerry PlayBook so I thought I would mention a tip or two of my own. I have found myself using the very useful SideReel website to find shows along with links to where they are available to stream from. Many of them sadly go to Hulu which is blocked or XfinityTV which I am having trouble with though it does work every once in awhile. On the other hand it does provide links to CBS, NBC, and others that do work.

If that official route fails a friend pointed out to my you may want to try TVDuck. Their legal situation seems a bit questionable but they have been around for a bit. They also rate the links based on quality which is nice though you have to jump through a couple ads to get the videos to play and they tend to be much lower quality.

Check it out and let me know how it goes. Also if you have your own tips and tricks feel free to share them!
