Magmic had some holiday spirit remaining and decided to make their Cosmos BlackBerry 7 compatible theme (also including earlier devices) free for a limited time. That means you can test out a solid premium theme on your BlackBerry 7 device for free! They are not saying how long the free price will stay but they want to know what you think! So far the only BlackBerry 7 devices it supports are the Bold 9900/9930 and Curve 9350/9360/9370/9380. Hopefully more are coming!

It was bound to happen and thanks to @rr_yy it is now a reality. They have extracted the custom made BlackBerry Porsche P’9981 theme to run on any BlackBerry Bold 9900 or 9930. That means you can download it for yourself and see what the whole “Porsche” design is all about.

We’ve seen Magmic releasing some themes for the OS7 platform. Mainly these have been for the Bold series as the work arounds have been created using old templates. BB-Freaks has now released their Carbon series for the BlackBerry CURVE 9350/9360/9370, BlackBerry BOLD 9900/9930, BlackBerry TORCH 9810, and BlackBerry TORCH 9850/9860 devices running OS 7.0. Adam over at CrackBerry has just posted a great tutorial on how make OS7 compatible themes.  We heard from RIM that OS7 broke the Theme Builder Engine and that it has to do with Liquid Graphics.  We saw our first OS7 theme last week, and there are sure going to be some more coming! Themers REJOICE!

The theme is pretty slick and comes with a built in screenshot utility with the ability to post to Facebook and Twitter. The theme is pretty slick though I have to say now I am checking out their whole lineup.

If bright, colorful and easy, fast and clean themes are your thing, than Effortless Theme by XMan Designs is a theme you should be looking at. Currently only available for OS 6 (soon to support OS 5) Effortless is “sleek, simple design allows for quick easy access to your most used programs with one click. Available for most BlackBerry devices, with Shintai “your BlackBerry becomes a sacred shrine that boasts spirituality and harmony in the palm of your hand. Shintai is the ideal theme for a practical yet tranquil lifestyle.” It’s a simple styled theme with neutral colors and practicality but if you like that ‘zen(ish)’ kind of look you will probably like this theme. De-Lexion is slick  new theme, that offers true reflections on your homescreen.  I have seen many other themes that use fake reflections, and once you put up custom icons, the reflection is gone.  Walker Themes has used a custom SVG code to have the reflections show true, no matter what icon you put in to place.  I have been running the theme for a few days, and it is fast and clean.  De-Lexion also has a hide able weather slot and hidden today.

Walker Themes are new to the theme building scene, but their talent is definitely showing, this theme has great functionality.  They have also used a totally custom set of icons that that really cleans the theme up in the app menu.  There are 6 customizable icons along the bottom, and now matter which icon you put there, the reflection shows. De-Lexion comes in three colors, Blue, Green, and Pink.  The notification area is clean with no cut offs, and custom signal/battery meters as well. Space activates the hidden today, and esc hides it bringing the weather slot (or profile) icon back.

There’s a lot to say about Gloss…so much so that I can’t possibly put it all here in this post, but I will say it’s one HAWT looking theme. Kris from BBT Themes always creates some slick and incredibly functional type themes and Gloss is no different. This theme allows the user to use a multitude of personal wallpapers with great integration. As we can see, the notifications are across the top, and are not cut off. The clickable signal meter launches Manage Connections so turning on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth is a snap. Clicking with nothing selected on the homescreen launches the first app in your app menu.

Anybody looking for a change from the normal themes should take a look at this one for sure!

The call screen and menus were unedited and left in their native simplicity.

Wu-Wei has really done a nice job with this one with customizations and adding a weather slot.

There are so many versions of this theme, that it can really suit anyone’s needs!

Wu-Wei has also been kind enough to report known issues supplied by users and are as follows.
Known Issues
• I have a boatload of variations. I know, my head swims when I look at the list too. Sorry if that’s confusing, but I’ve been doing my best to accommodate everyone’s particular preferences…so there’s a lot there to choose from.
• Battery charging icon misbehaves on Home Screen and Application Screen – does not show pulsing lightning bolt while charging, in fact does not show anything while charging until battery level is 100%, then shows old style ‘plug’ icon.
• The 3G bullets are linked to WiFi on the Home Screen, so if you are connected to WiFi and on 3G, the bullets will disappear from beside the 3G indicator and will be repositioned. (Cannot be changed)
• Notifications and network information are slightly skewed (like 1/2 a pixel for notifications) between Home Screen banner and Application Screen banner. This is partly due to the fact that a different icon format is used on each banner for notifications.
• Larger notification icons, like MeterBerry battery meters and WeatherBerry ‘thermometer’ icons are clipped in application banners. This only occurs on later versions of my theme (1.1.x and higher). I have not determined why the banner was resized between versions. It’s nothing I changed.
• I’m sure there are more quirks that have been pointed out, but let me know if you notice something odd and I’ll do my best to fix it.

The folks at Hedone Design are always trying to raise the bar on themes that look slick and perform super fast. This newest theme PSHD has lots of bells and whistles but I’ll let the description below fill you in on most of it:

Description:

Moving side to side brings you menu-type icons which will then allow you to move up and down through additional icons/options/favorites and such – you can do almost anything from your home screen! PSHD enables you to move as quickly as you think (in some cases, and we won’t talk about those, even faster). Enabled with such goodies as DFK, this one’s not just perfect, but perfect for you.

Operating instructions:
The theme displays five vertical rows on the home screen.
- Favorites – here you can customize icons on the home screen for your favorite
applications, place them in the first positions on your application screen.
- Media
- Phone
- Web (please note, if you do not have Facebook or Twitter for Blackberry, these two buttons will not work).
- Utilities
The second, third, fourth and fifth rows are fixed and cannot be changed.
