Hedone Design’s Latest Theme – GreenTech

Yes, my man at Hedone Design is back with this recent theme release called GreenTech. The name itself pretty much gives a clue as to the main feature of the theme (the color green) and while I am not much for that color I do think this theme has some slick style. I didn’t get a chance to test this one out for myself but according to Hedone Design, they offer a ‘quality guarantee’ on this theme since it was their first theme to be tested by a new beta testing group they have put together. Does that mean you will find absolutely NO issues on the theme? Eh…I’m not sure of that cause even I, the self proclaimed theme mistress, have missed certain things here and there on various themes. It happens. However, I think it’s great when theme developers have beta testing as it always makes a difference. So with that in mind, GreenTech is available for a bunch of BlackBerry devices for a cost of $7.99 regularly (yep, too high IMO) but until Nov. 23rd you can get it for $3.99. The folks at idberry have been pumping out themes like crazy. One of their latest, Black!, uses all the latest fade in/fade out menu features while keeping to its slick, rich style. New Stasis Theme from Elecite

The latest release from Elecite is a play on space age graphics and futuristic style. I’ll be honest, this isn’t my type of theme but if you’re heavily into a busy home screen that exudes an ‘Alien’ movie kinda feel…this is probably your theme. According to Peter, “available for the BlackBerry Storm 1 & 2 (comes separately for OS 4.7 and 5.0), 8900, 9600, 9000, 9700, 85xx & 8350i, Stasis features 6 customizable icons, open and close hatch buttons full of animation and dynamics with the additional 5 quick-access icons. Premium Transporter Theme – 30 Free Copies!

Well, well…this latest theme from the likes of jmerhi designs is pretty darn interesting. I had the pleasure of testing the Bold version and I really have to say, this is a well done theme. Futuristic in design, Transporter features very sharp graphics and an interesting home screen. The ‘thingamajig’ (cause I’m not really sure what to call it) that looks like a space crafts console offers a lot of little bells and whistles. The screen shot above shows you a bit of that. All in all, this theme worked really well for me and although it took a little time to understand how to best maneuver through it, I got the hang of it quickly. Transporter is available for a variety of BlackBerry devices and costs $6.99 (and y’all know how I feel about high priced themes in this economy). Marian sent me one of her new themes called Berryjean which features a dark Blue Jeans texture as a background. The theme also has a bit of a leather hint to it. The metallic blue & white icons match the theme perfectly. Premium Colorful Leopard Kitty Theme

I feel like I am floating in a wave of girlish delight over this newest theme release called, Colorful Leopard Kitty by GirlyThemes. While I know there are many out there who grimace whenever they see a flash of cute little Hello Kitty’s face…those of us who are true fans take our devotion very seriously. OK, silliness aside, Colorful Leopard Kitty is a very nice theme. The graphics are bright and colorful, icons are easy to understand and everything within the theme looks and works perfectly. Basically, I’m lovin it! Colorful Leopard Kitty costs $3.75 for the 9000, 8900 & 9630 versions and $3.50 for the 8300 version. Well worth the price for this theme. Payment is pretty easy and it’s via Paypal. You’re asked to list your device model, OS and email for the OTA link to be sent to. Make sure you do that. Theme links are promised to be sent within 24 hours but I received mine well before that. The whole experience was very professional and efficient. I highly recommend ladies that if you haven’t visited GirlyThemes (see link above) as of yet, you really ought to!

Premium Neverland Theme Offers Smooth Design

While the name is deceiving (I expected images of Peter Pan and Tinkerbell) I do understand the concept of theme designer JMerhi’s recent release, Neverland. It’s more about spacious skies and untouched earth. In a way, the graphics do bring a certain sort of calm to the mind upon first glance. That, along with crisp icons and a home page that offers hidden today buttons – and a hidden, pop up dock of customizable icons – IMO this is a pretty interesting theme. I tested the Bold version and I liked the way the theme worked and looked overall. It offers lots of function from the home screen yet stays clean and neat at the same time. My only issue with this theme…yeah, I have an issue…is the price. $7.00 for any theme right now is just too darn high in my book. I realize the work it takes to create some themes, but with this economy most theme designers are coming down with their prices. However, that said…if you like this theme and you have the dough to spend I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. Hedone Design’s New ‘VistaLike’ Theme

The latest theme release to come out of Hedone Design is based on the Windows Vista design and aptly called, VistaLike. Crisp, sharp images and customizable icons (both side and bottom docks) give this theme a clean and functional style. There’s also a heck of a lot going on the home page making it obvious that the folks at Hedone put quite a bit of thought into its creation. Available in basic Zen to Today Plus versions (with variations of messages & calendar) VistaLike supports basically all BlackBerry devices except the Pearl (awww). There’s also an expansion pack of additional wallpapers which are very cool.

New Shelved Theme from Ninja Themes

While I wasn’t technically a beta tester on Ninja’s latest theme design ‘Shelved’, I was able to get a preview of it prior to its release. Now, I’m not generally a fan of these ‘shelf’ type themes but I have to admit that if I was gonna go for one, this would be it. On the left side you have 3 shelves totaling 9 user customizable icons and on the right bottom side, you have an extra icon slot which per Ninja’s usual style is perfect for your weather application (note: weather app not included with theme). The time is displayed nicely in the banner and works well with the overall look of the theme. Shelved is wallpaper friendly, meaning you can change the wallpapers for the home & locked screens. I always find this to be a plus with any theme I use. This is a non-nonsense, highly functional theme for those who like a good amount of icons available on the home page. The best news of all is like all of Ninja’s themes, Shelved is very reasonably priced at only $1.99. It’s available for the 8900, 9000 & 9630 and works like a charm. Free ‘NewAge’ Theme for the BlackBerry Bold

I gotta credit a tip I received from Ninja about this latest theme available over at BlackberryFreeware.Us called, NewAge.

Featuring a large digital style clock in the middle of the screen, and some very slick iPhone like icons…NewAge theme is also wallpaper friendly. I haven’t been able to play around with this baby just yet, but it looks like a classic and user-friendly theme. Best yet kids, it’s FREE! Elecite’s New ‘Shell’ Theme for Most BlackBerry Devices

A few days ago, Peter from Elecite sent me their latest theme to test called Shell. At first glance, you have some sharp, vibrant graphics and an interesting slide out icon dock (set-up, etc. varies between devices). There’s another neat little feature which I’ll let Peter explain in his own words; “With this one, you have the option to choose between the black, white, blue, and red theme skins on the fly with the skin selection button. On top of color choice, you also get app choice – 4 dedicated icons in a dock, as well as 9 more hidden icons that you can reach via the arrow button – all completely customizable and imitate the icons at the top of your application list. Shell [costs $6.99 and] is available for the BlackBerry 8350, 85xx, 8900, 9000, 95xx, and 96xx series.”

Now for my own thoughts on Shell which while certainly attractive and interesting with all its bells and whistles, I find it a little to much for my tastes. I also have never liked darker color backgrounds in my ‘messages’ application for example because for me, I just find it too confusing. I tend to like simple, but that’s just me. You have to decide for yourself and Elecite does offer more screen shots on their product page so I suggest taking a look there for details. (Note: Some Storm2 or Storm (OS 5.0) users may experience distorted/resized wallpaper while in landscape view. Unfortunately, updates will only be available upon release of Plazmic patch. At first glance, for me, the home screen seemed to be a bit off centered but I’m getting picky in my old age and Zach assures me that this is the nature of the highlights in the background (in case any of you who are as picky as me notice). Regardless, the “issue” goes away when you change the wallpaper so perhaps it’s not an issue at all really.

Any of you who follow my theme reviews know that I’m not much for themes that have a lot going on, I like’em basic. Zach’s theme is one of those themes with a lot of cool imagery and fun filled action. So for those of you who like that kinda thing, this is your theme. New Desire Theme from Hedone Design

The designers at Hedone Design are whipping out themes like crazy these days. Desire, their latest, is all about a dark and grungy style. I gotta admit, this theme looks very similar to some other Grunge themes out there, so in terms of it being the first of its kind…that’s not the case. However, I do like the dark color theme. Desire is available for 8900, 9000, 9500 & 9600 BlackBerry devices for $6.99 regularly but is on sale for $3.99 until October 28th. Premium Downtown Theme from Artistic-Me

Brandy, the creative force behind Artistic-Me Theme Designs has just released a new theme called, Downtown. Using artsy style cityscape graphics and a neat assortment of icons, Downtown is a pretty cool looking theme. I cannot comment on how the theme works as I didn’t get a review version to test, so you’ll have to take a chance when purchasing this baby. However, as I have said before… Brandy’s themes are usually top notch in design and function. I do say that $6.99 for any theme right now is a little steep, but it is what it is. Downtown can be purchased at Artistic-Me. Available for the 8900, Bold & Tour devices.

Free Revo Chic Theme for the 8900, 9000 & 9630

PooterMobile over at PimpMyBerry has a nice little shop set up with all of his free BlackBerry theme designs. One of his pride and joy themes, as he claims, is for us gals who want to sport a little flowery style. Enter Revo Chic.

Featuring a soft green and pink pastel flowery image with pink icons and interesting accents, there seems to be more to this theme than meets the eye. Some details are below, and more information can be found as well as the OTA download at PimpMyBerry. Best yet, Revo Chic is completely FREE which IMO, that’s always a good thing. Features include:

New Perception Mini Theme for the 8900, 9000 & 9600

Larry over at Ahead of the Curve Designs just let me know about one of his recent theme designs called Perception Mini. Using 11 miniature Mac OS icons and a full screen of a soft, tranquil forest setting, Perception is all about cleanliness and ease of use. I played with the Bold version and the one gripe I have is that I don’t like large icons (as is the case on the App page of this theme) but that’s just a personal opinion. Other than that, I thought this theme worked very smoothly and efficiently. Perception Mini sells regularly for $6.99 (high for these times) but is on sale now for $5.99 at the Themes4BB store. Which btw, has been selling a lot of interesting themes lately. worth a checking out when you have a chance.

Premium Zebra Theme from Cherrichiodo

Alright, I gotta admit that I’m a sucker for Zebra patterned themes but that isn’t the only reason I love this hot new theme from CherriChiodo (AllThingsBerry.Com).

The colors are vibrant, the images sharp and the icons are eye-popping. This is a very practical theme that has all the wild looks I love. There are a few versions of this theme (Zen and Hidden Today) and each comes in your choice of Blue or Pink colors.

Zebra costs $7.99 and though I love Cherri’s themes…that’s a little high for themes these days considering many designers are keeping prices lower. Hot! Linear Kaleidoscope Theme from Ninja Themes – Only .99 cents!

You may remember a short while back I mentioned Ninja’s Awesome Linear Theme , which was a huge hit and got so many requests to be made in different colors. Premium Endearing Theme for the Tour, Bold & Curve 8900

In searching through the Berryreview Store, I happened across this whimsical like girly theme called Endearing. Designed by ‘Kandy’, Endearing features soft, baby blue backgrounds and ‘cutesie’ colorful icons. Some of those icons seemed to be a little rough around the edges but the theme itself is adorable in design. There are two versions of this theme; Today and Zen. I tested the Bold version and it worked very nicely for me but if you’re someone who likes to know immediately what each icon stands for just by looking, take heart, cause it can be a bit confusing with this theme. However, I’m sure in time you can get the swing of it. Endearing costs $5.99 and is available in the Berryreview Store.

Some Scary, Premium Themes from idberry

The folks over at idberry thought it would be nice to put together some scary Halloween themes for those of you who like to keep your Berry festive. He sent me over a bunch, but for time’s sake, I could only test one. I chose CreepyBerry which upon first glance I thought, “awwww, so cute”. Turns out it works as nicely as it looks. The adorable little pumpkin icons bounce on the home page as you scroll over them and go perfectly with the overall theme. Of course, if you’re someone who likes to know what each icon represents, immediately, then this theme may not be for you. The app names are listed underneath each icon however, so all is not completely lost. There are several other Halloween inspired themes available which you can take a look at via this link in our store. All themes are on sale for $3.99 until October 18th and are available for most newer BlackBerry devices.

Premium M[i]Berry Theme from Cocky Culture

To prove that he doesn’t just design Rock n Roll type themes, Tony over at Cocky Culture sent in his latest theme design for me to test out. I’m not a big iPhone theme kinda gal, however I was very surprised at how much I did like M[i]Berry. The graphics are very attractive and there’s lots of icons available from the home screen. There’s a bottom dock of (6) icons and a hidden/slide out dock of 12 more icons (Bold version). Pretty nifty to have all these icons at your fingertips but at the same time, the theme manages to remain clean. Below are some details. M[i]Berry costs $4.95 regularly but is currently on sale at Cocky Culture’s site. Definitely worth the price for a theme that does this much. Available for a variety of newer BlackBerry devices. Check the screen shots displayed on their site to make sure you’re getting the theme you want.

New, Free ‘Scenic’ Theme from Elecite!

Peter from Elecite let me know that in a special thanks to they’re customers, they’re offering their next theme ‘Scenic’ absolutely free. According to Peter, “If you’ve never taken one of our themes for a spin, here’s your chance. The Scenic theme comes with 5-6 bottom dock icons and an assortment of over 50 beautiful icons to dress your BlackBerry with a VERY wallpaper friendly choice.”

I downloaded and tested the Bold version and it worked well. It’s a fairly large file for what I would consider one of Elecite’s more simpler themes, but graphics are extremely sharp and vivid. Again, I’m not much for big icons, and I do wish that fonts were customizable (I like my fonts small) but this is a free theme so I guess I’m asking too much. Scenic is supported on all BlackBerry models except the Pearl 8100 (I’m sure we’ll have some disappointed readers). Take note that in order to get the free OTA download you have to go to Elecite.Com and access it that way…which may require you to fill out some details. But if you like the theme, it’s worth it.

Premium TriColor Theme for the 8900, Bold & Tour

I had the chance to play around with Sferical Design’s latest themes called TriColor. It’s an interesting design, with a funky night city background and 2 hidden home page docks (side and bottom). There’s also more icons at the header on top as well as a slot for your weather app (note; weather app not included). For my own taste, I prefer smaller icons, but the theme overall looks great and worked very well. TriColor costs $5.99, which is an average price for themes these days since so many theme developers are charging less and/or offering special deals. However, it’s an all around classic theme for your BlackBerry device. TriColor is available for the 8900, 9000 & Tour (OS 4.6 & higher) in our Berryreview Store.
