Translator+ - Commercial Translation Application

I have been asked quite a few times for the best translation application for BlackBerry. The sad truth is that I don’t have a good answer. So far we have covered the free BBTran application, the MikeBrittain.com translation website, and how to translate using Google Talk. The latest I have discovered is an older (I [...]

ActiveBerry Now AstraSync - Coming This Month

I know we mentioned ActiveBerry before as the upcoming ActiveSync application service for BlackBerry. I have been monitoring it closely and noticed that they have rebranded their product name to AstraSync. Not sure why. I kind of liked ActiveBerry.
They claim that the product will be available this month (July 2008) so we should be able [...]

AskUs: BlackBerry Checkbook App That Can Export To Quicken?

Brad sent in a question asking if there are any checkbook applications out there for BlackBerry that will export their information to Quicken.
With a little digging and searching I remembered that there are two applications that let you export your information to Quicken.
The first is the powerful Ascendo Money ($29.95) which lets you:

Export & Import [...]

2Buzz - Helps You Setup Conference Calls In The UK

Stefano let me know about this new 2Buzz service for UK BlackBerry users. We don’t usually cover UK specific issues so I thought I would mention this one to even the score. This service is similar to the the Ring2 software that Ryan has reviewed on CrackBerry.
Features from www.2buzz.com:

Create on-the-fly-conferences.
Automatic notification and reminders for participants [...]

Pinger - Free Voice SMS Application

The closest description I can come up with for Pinger is a Voice SMS system. For some reason I think I have heard of Pinger before but I can’t remember where…
The Pinger service lets you send voice messages directly to someone instantly over your data connection. It is like email with voice which ironically you [...]

3D GPS Navigation On Your BlackBerry

The guys at BlackBerryInsight spotted a new 3D navigation software called Navi2Go by 3DVU. It almost looks like a GPS navigation program using Google Maps satellite view. The application looks pretty cool and has some pretty cool features though it is not encouraging when most of the screenshots have a hourglass on them:

Their major struggling [...]

MetrO Update Available - 2nd Beta Version

I know many of you were interested in the free MetrO application when we mentioned the first beta. So I was happy when Nathan told me about an updated beta version that MetrO just released. If you don’t know what MetrO is in a nutshell it allows you to get public transportation directions for over [...]

LaunchPads 1.5 Update Released

I know some of you are using LaunchPads as your shortcut utility so I thought I would let you know about the last two updates. Phil sent me a link telling me that this latest update has improved a bit of the functionality to really round out the application. I also thought the rudimentary backup [...]

Google Maps 2.2.1 Voice Control On Your Curve & 8800!!!

Keep in mind this is REALLY not supported by Google since they only support it for the 8110, 8120, & 8130. This is the new voice search version that was released as an experimental version by Google.
One of our readers, Hank, discovered that you can install it on a 8300 or 8800 series device just [...]
