Don’t get your hopes up so far this is only available in San Francisco but it is promising. CitySense tracks yours and other users movements to see where something is happening. Its the epitome of pack instincts. If there are many people crowded at one place there must be something to see…
Its an interesting twist on [...]

I know many people use Google Maps “My Location” feature to get their location without GPS. Turns out Google has some big plans for this My Location. In their latest post on their Google Mobile blog they mention exactly how they get this location.
It turns out that they have been using us for months! [...]

This one totally differentiates itself from the crowd by offering Google Earth support for 3D maps once you get to your computer. Thats pretty damn cool. You just need the Google Earth browser plugin.
The software looks pretty cool but it will run into stiff competition with the myriad of other GPS tracking applications for BlackBerry [...]

Google Mobile just announced version 2.20 of their Google Maps software for BlackBerry today. The new version brings public transportation information from buses, trains, & ferries to your BlackBerry. Pretty cool stuff and the closest to a changelog we have ever gotten from Google Mobile!!!

Personally I have been confused for quite awhile now. All I have been hearing is LBS is the future, A-GPS will tell you where you are, Cell Tower ID is awesome… You get the picture. Honestly I had only a vague idea what any of these meant until I read this great article David B [...]

Here is another one called InstaMapper. The program has been tested on the Sprint 8130 but it [...]

Wizi does not seem to be new but it looks really interesting. Location sharing and proximity alerting applications seem to be all the rage these days. The application lets you share your location and avoid traffic with real time traffic alerts.
I can just imagine the uses ranging from knowing where your kids are to when your friends [...]

Recently the BlackBerry has been inundated with location sharing and buddy finding applications. The latest that I have found is called Ipoki and has some nice features.
What is ipoki?
• GPS based social network
What can you do with ipoki? • Share your location with everybody using Google Maps
• Locate your friends and family anywhere
• Connect to other users who share their [...]

Lindsay kindly commented on our Loopt post about a new application that I have never heard of before for the BlackBerry. The application is called Where and is a bit hard to find the BlackBerry support on their site. (BuddyFinder seems familiar for some reason…)
I did finally find the BlackBerry description page at this link:
WHERE is [...]

Abdul got the skinny on another free GPS application for BlackBerry. The features look really cool. I like the fact that it tells you the best time to take your trip to get there on schedule.
From the description:
Proxpro Prompt (beta) provides a real-time picture of your next journey before you’ve even set off. It calculates [...]
