Verizon Releases OS 4.7.1.61 for the BlackBerry Tour 9630

The word around the forums has been that Verizon was releasing OS 4.7.1.61 & it looks like they came through. David just let us know that Valace2 over at Berryaddicted posted a link to download the update. To download the file to your desktop go to the Verizon website or click on this link.

This is an official update so you are safe to download and install but to safe make sure you always do a back up of your 3rd party applications and your contacts before doing an upgrade. Discard the warning on the screen shot, it just ask that every time I try to download a file.

Tom let me know that Bryan @BBOS spotted an update to OS 4.7.1.61 for the BlackBerry Tour 9630 from Appalachian Wireless and Bluegrass Cellular. Hopefully Verizon will soon release OS 5.0 for the Tour but until then this will have to do.

DavidH let me know that Sprint has finally gotten around to posting up OS 4.7.1.57 on their website for download. This is the full EXE which is useful for BES deployments and other cases. Previously the update was only available through limited desktop manager and finicky wireless updates.

Recent OS updates from Verizon and Sprint seem to only be coming out for installation through desktop manager and/or wireless updates. This means that many BES users and other special cases are left with an OS they cannot download the install file for. Even Verizon is still listing OS 4.7.1.40 on their website. This OS was leaked awhile back but here it is officially.

Tom let me know that US Cellular has bucked the trend and released OS 4.7.1.53 on their website before even releasing the device. While this is not the latest OS 4.7.1.57 that Sprint is unloading through desktop manager it seems to be the latest you can download.

Sprint Finally Pushing Out BlackBerry Tour OS 4.7.1.57

We told you awhile back that Sprint approved OS 4.7.1.57 but for some reason it only went out to a select few. Now it looks like it has been officially rolled out through www.blackberry.com/update and through the newer versions of Desktop Manager. I am not sure if Wireless Update is working but let us know.

Sprint Sneaking Out OS 4.7.1.57 for the BlackBerry Tour?

Dominik let us know about a post by a Sprint admin on their official forums about OS 4.7.1.57 for the BlackBerry Tour. Looks like it is quietly being pushed out through Wireless Updates for select individuals. Seems like some people are not having that much luck with the update but it looks like it is coming soon.

Check it out and see if you have it by going to Options>Advanced options>Wireless Update

Leaked OS 5.0.0.230 For 8330

Morganizer & Abbi let us know that the 8330 device finally received some love from OS 5.0.0.230 which was leaked over at www.berryaddicted.com. You can pick up the file at the following link:

A note of caution: Do this upgrade at your own risk because it may render your device unusable if you are not familiar with OS upgrades, this is a Beta OS and not an official release.

Make sure you delete the Vendor.xml if before installing as it may make it easier to install if your DM does not recognize it, launch the application loader, always do backups before installing any OS. Let us know in the comments how it works and any issues you may find, enjoy.

For those of you living on the bleeding edge OS 5.0.0.216 has made its way out for the GSM BlackBerry Storm 9500. You have to make sure to remove the internal tools once you install the new OS to your PC (if you use the first link) and the boys at BlackBerryOS are recommending you wipe your device before installing.

AT&T Releases Bold OS 4.6.0.297 Bug Fix Update – Visual Voicemail Back!

AT&T released OS 4.6.0.297 awhile ago for the Bold and then quickly yanked it after it caused issues with their network and other problems. Now they have released the same exact OS version with a new maintenance release bundle 517 compared to the older 508.

You can pick it up at www.att.com/bbdownloads but an OTA OS upgrade should also work.

NEW BlackBerry Bold Maintenance Release v4.6.0.517 now available
BlackBerry Bold Maintenance Release bundle version 4.6.0.517 (comprising application version v4.6.0.297 and platform version 4.0.0.247) is now available for customers to download. Bundle 517 contains all the functionality of the recently-removed bundle 508, but addresses the software issue affecting the interaction between the device and network enhancements being deployed. There are no additional changes in bundle 517 (as compared to earlier BlackBerry Bold MR bundle 508) other than addressing the software issue. For a review of the added functionality contained in this release, please see the original communications for BlackBerry Bold Maintenance Release.
Customers who downloaded bundle 508 should upgrade as soon as they are able as bundle 508 contains the software issue that is addressed in bundle 517. Customers on earlier versions (bundle 298 and maintenance release bundle 438) should be made aware of the performance enhancements and added capabilities of bundle 517 and should be encouraged to certify and upgrade their users.
Bundle 517 Maintenance Release is available for customers to download though 2 means:

Over-the-air delivery via OTASL (For information see “FOTA For BES Administrators” on the BlackBerry Enterprise Product Page in OIL)

Visual Voicemail provisioning has also been re-instated for customers who have upgraded.

BlackBerry Storm OS 5.0.0.230 Found Online! Caveats Included!

NOTE: THIS RELEASE IS NOT AN OFFICIAL RELEASE and is harder to install since RIM has removed the EXE file from the release! You also need to have OS 5.0.0.191 install on your computer. So consider yourself warned!!!

This release has been a long time coming. The boys at BBOS just let the Storm OS 5.0.0.230 out of the bag. This release brings camera and video camera support to the 5.0 OS fans. The release is hampered by the fact that RIM removed the EXE file but BBCrackman found a way to create an installer without it!

I am not even going to publish the download link since only the brave of heart should apply but you can find the details at this link on BBOS. MAKE SURE TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS.

James let me know that US Cellular has updated their OS for the 8330, 8330m, 8130, 8130m, & 8830. That brings them all up to date with the latest OS 4.5.0.169 which seems to be the latest OS available as far as I remember.
