Simprit, the makers of GridMagic, currently has a new media player called MiuTunes, undergoing beta testing. Sadly the Beta seems to be currently closed but you can sign up for future Betas at this link.
With MiuTunes you can “flip” through your music just like Flipside but with more of the iPhone “swishy” feel. MiuTunes can [...]

One of our readers just sent in this application that looks cool but for the life of me I cannot read Spanish. (Google translate is not helping much) It seems to be a competitor with SHAPE’s Mobiscope application that allows you to monitor your surveillance cameras from your BlackBerry. Truthfully I cannot imagine this working [...]

I installed an Alpine iDA-X001 media player in my work van about 6 months or so ago and until recently, have not tried it for playing music directly from my BlackBerry Curve.
Although I have it running through about 1200 watts of amplifiers, subwoofers and speakers, I’m not going to do a review of sound quality [...]

I know that I don’t switch wallpapers all that often but I know quite a few users who have purchased the wallpaper megaplex application from S4BB. The new catalog has over SIX AND A HALF MILLION wallpapers. I think that should cover just about every niche requirement. With an average of 15Kb per wallpaper (as far as I know) that can be over [...]

Making software for the competitive mobile device market is not easy, but those folks at SHAPE Services are not complaining. Instead, they’re keeping up with the times and defending the relevance of their products. SHAPE Services is the company that makes VR+, a voice recorder for the Blackberry, [...]

The admin of eVeek.com, Peter, let me know about a new Beta that they have just launched. They introduced a video platform where you can find videos online and download them to your BlackBerry.
Peter told me about this service a bit back and it got me quite excited about the prospect. The service is truly a [...]

A bit back I cam across a really random BlackBerry application and thought I would share it with you. I have to put up the disclaimer that I have never tried it myself since I don’t really listen to the radio since my commute is underground. The application idea is really cool. They have systems [...]

QuickPlay does not seem to have gotten enough traction with the First Video player for BlackBerry so I guess they are moving on to Satellite radio. AT&T has had this feature for quite awhile but the subscription fees were just not worth it for the few minutes I might listen a month.
The nice part about [...]

I know there are quite a few of you out there using the free xPlayer multimedia player from SHAPE so I thought I would mention this. They have released an update this week to fix a few bugs in the media player. One of the big fixes was the annoying issue where the backlight would [...]
