The rest of the press release below seems to be justifying Sprint’s existence as a major carrier by comparing themselves to the AT&T iPhone plan and claiming that they have twice AT&T’s current 3G network and 14 times the coverage of T-Mobile’s. Pretty interesting read… especially the disclaimers in the footnotes.

Verizon just made the BlackBerry Curve 8530 we all knew about official. The device will be coming on Nov 20th to Verizon and will add to their BlackBerry device catalog making another splash with Wi-Fi AND GPS. The inclusion of GPS on the 8520 really makes it stand out.

The device will be available on Nov. 20 for $99.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year customer agreement with a BlackBerry plan. Sadly the device will also come with no memory card.

Anybody else notice that there is no mention of OS 5.0? I have been hearing confirmed reports that the 8520 will NEVER be getting OS 5.0 and this oversight in the 8530 announcement does not bode well with me.

I gotta credit a tip I received from Ninja about this latest theme available over at BlackberryFreeware.Us called, NewAge.

Featuring a large digital style clock in the middle of the screen, and some very slick iPhone like icons…NewAge theme is also wallpaper friendly. I haven’t been able to play around with this baby just yet, but it looks like a classic and user-friendly theme. Best yet kids, it’s FREE! Definitely worth a checking out over at BlackBerryFreeware.Us where you can access the OTA. Enjoy!

Nothing really new to report about the device but Kyle over at BBCool managed to do a quick review of the final T-Mobile BlackBerry Bold 9700. I am still kind of surprised that the T-Mobile variant of the Bold 9700 does not have a different model number… That might get confusing.

I finally caved…… Anyone who knows me I am a live and die BlackBerry guy, and ZERO iphone, or anything else that starts with  an “i”. I desperately needed a body guard for my BlackBerry Storm. After doing some research I decided to go with iSkin Vibes and I am so glad I did. The Skin looks and feels amazing. It is also very easy to put it on the blackberry. As an extra bonus you get a anti-glare screen protector. Everyone I know who has a screen protector always has a bubble somewhere,no one has it  perfect. With my first try I easily put the one included on and it looks great. 2 points for iSkin!

Description:

The iSkin Vibes feels and looks like a hard case, yet it is very flexible and impossible to rip (i tried really hard to tear it).  The iSkin has an earphone hole, sync port flap and and opening for the mic. The speaker is covered but
the sound is not affected through the  case.  It also features embedded Microban
antimicrobial protection. If you are a Curve or Bold user don’t feel bad, iSkin has
the Vibes for the Bold and Vibes/Vibes FX for the Curve.

In other rumors the BoyGenius is reporting that the T-Mobile BlackBerry Bold 9700 has been delayed to November 16th with pricing at $199 with a two year contract or $449 retail.

Last but not least I got confirmation from one of my sources that Vodafone UK now has the BlackBerry Bold 9700 in stock ready for launch. It will probably be priced at £339 inc VAT, price plans will be £35 per month (24 month) or £40 (18 month).

So as an act of diligence I am asking all of our dedicated readers to keep a sharp eye on Verizon’s website for any news and your local store for any new shipments. You should also be mercilessly hounding your corporate rep if you have one. The BlackBerry Storm2 was confirmed to be launching today, Oct 28th, for $179.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and new two year contract.

The Q&A is a bit superficial but its good to see that the main focus for Yasser Mirza was fixing the annoying original SurePress screen and improving the software. He claims that he can now type faster on a Storm than on a QWERTY keyboard but I doubt that is possible! I have typed on practically every kind of consumer touchscreen and virtual keys will always fail in comparison to real buttons.

There is some interesting stuff in here but my buddy Doug glossed over a key question. Why did they decide to call it the Storm2? Will the 9700 be the Bold2? This could start to get really confusing…

Brandy, the creative force behind Artistic-Me Theme Designs has just released a new theme called, Downtown. Using artsy style cityscape graphics and a neat assortment of icons, Downtown is a pretty cool looking theme. I cannot comment on how the theme works as I didn’t get a review version to test, so you’ll have to take a chance when purchasing this baby. However, as I have said before… Brandy’s themes are usually top notch in design and function. I do say that $6.99 for any theme right now is a little steep, but it is what it is. The BlackBerry Storm2 smartphone will retail for $179.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year contract with a voice plan with a BlackBerry plan or just a plain BlackBerry standalone plan. The rebate will be given in a Verizon debit card.

Featuring a soft green and pink pastel flowery image with pink icons and interesting accents, there seems to be more to this theme than meets the eye. Some details are below, and more information can be found as well as the OTA download at PimpMyBerry. Best yet, Revo Chic is completely FREE which IMO, that’s always a good thing. Features include:

• New sleek icons!
• Pretty much all icons have been modified!
• Two hidden “cells” containing 4 customizable icons each for a total of 8 icons on homescreen
• When you click on cell 1 the first four icons pop up and the same goes for cell2
• No carrier
• Wallpaper friendly
• Lockscreen is animated

Larry over at Ahead of the Curve Designs just let me know about one of his recent theme designs called Perception Mini. Using 11 miniature Mac OS icons and a full screen of a soft, tranquil forest setting, Perception is all about cleanliness and ease of use. I played with the Bold version and the one gripe I have is that I don’t like large icons (as is the case on the App page of this theme) but that’s just a personal opinion. Other than that, I thought this theme worked very smoothly and efficiently. Perception Mini sells regularly for $6.99 (high for these times) but is on sale now for $5.99 at the Themes4BB store. Which btw, has been selling a lot of interesting themes lately. worth a checking out when you have a chance.

T-Mobile plans on selling the Bold 9700 “in time for the holiday season” whatever that means for $199.99 with a 2 year contract. You can catch more at www.blackberry.com/bold9700.

In RIM’s press release the specifically mention the two different flavors of the 9700. One for T-Mobile and one for the rest of the world. This is because T-Mobile runs their 3G over the non-standard 1700Mhz AWS band. That means the different configurations will have:

• UMTS/HSDPA 2100/1900/850/800 MHz and quad-band EDGE/GPRS/GSM
• UMTS/HSDPA 2100/1700/900 MHz and quad-band EDGE/GPRS/GSM

So who wants one of these as badly as I do?

As someone who was one of the beta testers of the original Linear theme I can attest to the fact that it is one of the nicest themes I have ever used. Graphics are brilliant, icons are clear and easy to recognize and the whole theme works incredibly well. There’s also a weather app icon slot (Note: Weather app is not included with theme).

As a final note, Linear Kaleidoscope sells for a very reasonably priced $1.99 but until Halloween you can get this baby for just .99 cents!
