Sadly this is not OS 5.0 but at least AT&T is trying to keep up with their latest release of OS 4.6 for the Bold. Joshua let us know about AT&T releasing OS 4.6.0.304.

BlackBerry Bold 9000 OS 5.0.0.348 Found Online

secretagent 7545 sent us a link for OS 5.0.0.348 for the Bold 9000. Not sure what is new in this version but from what I can tell it is the latest. They also sent over a link for the 8900 but I am still trying to sort that one out since they accidentally sent over an older version.

New Shelved Theme from Ninja Themes

While I wasn’t technically a beta tester on Ninja’s latest theme design ‘Shelved’, I was able to get a preview of it prior to its release. Now, I’m not generally a fan of these ‘shelf’ type themes but I have to admit that if I was gonna go for one, this would be it. On the left side you have 3 shelves totaling 9 user customizable icons and on the right bottom side, you have an extra icon slot which per Ninja’s usual style is perfect for your weather application (note: weather app not included with theme). The time is displayed nicely in the banner and works well with the overall look of the theme. Shelved is wallpaper friendly, meaning you can change the wallpapers for the home & locked screens. I always find this to be a plus with any theme I use. This is a non-nonsense, highly functional theme for those who like a good amount of icons available on the home page. The best news of all is like all of Ninja’s themes, Shelved is very reasonably priced at only $1.99. It’s available for the 8900, 9000 & 9630 and works like a charm. Free ‘NewAge’ Theme for the BlackBerry Bold

I gotta credit a tip I received from Ninja about this latest theme available over at BlackberryFreeware.Us called, NewAge.

Featuring a large digital style clock in the middle of the screen, and some very slick iPhone like icons…NewAge theme is also wallpaper friendly. I haven’t been able to play around with this baby just yet, but it looks like a classic and user-friendly theme. Best yet kids, it’s FREE! Definitely worth a checking out over at BlackBerryFreeware.Us where you can access the OTA. Enjoy!

Vodafone Update – Free Twitter & Facebook Client – Bold & 8900 Curve Only

Luis let me know about Vodafone Update which is a slick Twitter and Facebook client for the BlackBerry Bold 9000 & BlackBerry Curve 8900. The app kind of reminds me of SocialScope and looks quite good. It will not replace the BlackBerry Facebook client but the Twitter functionality is pretty cool. I guess it is intended for Vodafone users only but it works on my AT&T Bold…

Premium Downtown Theme from Artistic-Me

Brandy, the creative force behind Artistic-Me Theme Designs has just released a new theme called, Downtown. Using artsy style cityscape graphics and a neat assortment of icons, Downtown is a pretty cool looking theme. I cannot comment on how the theme works as I didn’t get a review version to test, so you’ll have to take a chance when purchasing this baby. However, as I have said before… Brandy’s themes are usually top notch in design and function. I do say that $6.99 for any theme right now is a little steep, but it is what it is. Downtown can be purchased at Artistic-Me. Available for the 8900, Bold & Tour devices.

Free Revo Chic Theme for the 8900, 9000 & 9630

PooterMobile over at PimpMyBerry has a nice little shop set up with all of his free BlackBerry theme designs. One of his pride and joy themes, as he claims, is for us gals who want to sport a little flowery style. Enter Revo Chic.

Featuring a soft green and pink pastel flowery image with pink icons and interesting accents, there seems to be more to this theme than meets the eye. Some details are below, and more information can be found as well as the OTA download at PimpMyBerry. Best yet, Revo Chic is completely FREE which IMO, that’s always a good thing. Features include:

New sleek icons!
Pretty much all icons have been modified!
Two hidden “cells” containing 4 customizable icons each for a total of 8 icons on homescreen

New Perception Mini Theme for the 8900, 9000 & 9600

Larry over at Ahead of the Curve Designs just let me know about one of his recent theme designs called Perception Mini. Using 11 miniature Mac OS icons and a full screen of a soft, tranquil forest setting, Perception is all about cleanliness and ease of use. I played with the Bold version and the one gripe I have is that I don’t like large icons (as is the case on the App page of this theme) but that’s just a personal opinion. Other than that, I thought this theme worked very smoothly and efficiently. Perception Mini sells regularly for $6.99 (high for these times) but is on sale now for $5.99 at the Themes4BB store. Which btw, has been selling a lot of interesting themes lately. worth a checking out when you have a chance.

Hot! Linear Kaleidoscope Theme from Ninja Themes – Only .99 cents!

You may remember a short while back I mentioned Ninja’s Awesome Linear Theme , which was a huge hit and got so many requests to be made in different colors. Obliging the masses, Ninja created the popular theme in another 6 gorgeously vibrant hues and named the series Kaleidoscope. In addition to the Purple, there is now Gold, Green, Red, Grey, Blue and yes…Magenta/Pink.

As someone who was one of the beta testers of the original Linear theme I can attest to the fact that it is one of the nicest themes I have ever used. Graphics are brilliant, icons are clear and easy to recognize and the whole theme works incredibly well. There’s also a weather app icon slot (Note: Weather app is not included with theme).

As a final note, Linear Kaleidoscope sells for a very reasonably priced $1.99 but until Halloween you can get this baby for just .99 cents! Premium Endearing Theme for the Tour, Bold & Curve 8900

In searching through the Berryreview Store, I happened across this whimsical like girly theme called Endearing. Designed by ‘Kandy’, Endearing features soft, baby blue backgrounds and ‘cutesie’ colorful icons. Some of those icons seemed to be a little rough around the edges but the theme itself is adorable in design. There are two versions of this theme; Today and Zen. I tested the Bold version and it worked very nicely for me but if you’re someone who likes to know immediately what each icon stands for just by looking, take heart, cause it can be a bit confusing with this theme. However, I’m sure in time you can get the swing of it. Endearing costs $5.99 and is available in the Berryreview Store.

AT&T White Bold Now Selling in Tucson Arizona

Premium M[i]Berry Theme from Cocky Culture

To prove that he doesn’t just design Rock n Roll type themes, Tony over at Cocky Culture sent in his latest theme design for me to test out. I’m not a big iPhone theme kinda gal, however I was very surprised at how much I did like M[i]Berry. The graphics are very attractive and there’s lots of icons available from the home screen. There’s a bottom dock of (6) icons and a hidden/slide out dock of 12 more icons (Bold version). Pretty nifty to have all these icons at your fingertips but at the same time, the theme manages to remain clean. Below are some details. M[i]Berry costs $4.95 regularly but is currently on sale at Cocky Culture’s site. Definitely worth the price for a theme that does this much. Available for a variety of newer BlackBerry devices. Check the screen shots displayed on their site to make sure you’re getting the theme you want.

AT&T Makes White BlackBerry Bold Official on Facebook

Talk about an interesting announcement from AT&T caught by Engadget. They have decided to announce the BlackBerry 9000 Bold in white for AT&T on Facebook at this link. This is nothing new to us since we heard about it already but some official confirmation is nice. I am really digging the white with chrome accents look…

The scheduled release date is Oct 18th which is right around the corner… Anybody planning on picking one up instead of waiting for the BlackBerry 9700 Bold? At least the Oct 18th launch is earlier than the previous Oct 21st rumored launch.

Premium TriColor Theme for the 8900, Bold & Tour

I had the chance to play around with Sferical Design’s latest themes called TriColor. It’s an interesting design, with a funky night city background and 2 hidden home page docks (side and bottom). There’s also more icons at the header on top as well as a slot for your weather app (note; weather app not included). For my own taste, I prefer smaller icons, but the theme overall looks great and worked very well. TriColor costs $5.99, which is an average price for themes these days since so many theme developers are charging less and/or offering special deals. However, it’s an all around classic theme for your BlackBerry device. TriColor is available for the 8900, 9000 & Tour (OS 4.6 & higher) in our Berryreview Store.

BlackBerry Bold Joining AT&T in White – Bold 2 Announcement Coming Oct 21st

Gizmodo got the scoop from RIM that the BlackBerry 9000 Bold will be coming to AT&T in white on October 18th. It will probably be online only with a few restricted stores included. The price will be the usual $200 on AT&T but I am really trying to get over a fake white pleather back…

In other news Engadget got on “good authority” that the BlackBerry Bold 2 9700 will be announced on T-Mobile and AT&T on October 21st. They only mention the announcement and not the release but still it is something to look forward to.

I guess it is going to be a pretty exciting month for AT&T and T-Mobile. I cant wait to get my hands on a new Bold… Mine is starting to show its wear and tear.

Free WorldWide Today Theme for the BlackBerry Bold

I gotta give credit to Ninja who sent in a tip for this free theme for the Blackberry 9000 called WorldWide. Created by ‘mobi900’ (as seen on the CB Forums) WorldWide is a very sharp and sophisticated looking theme with hidden side tabs and an overall easy-on-the-eyes visual experience. I haven’t tested this baby yet but I’m gonna. What really surprises me is that this theme is free as I’m sure lots of work went into this creating this theme. Free Breast Cancer Awareness Theme for the Bold

White BlackBerry 9000 Bold & Charcoal 9700 Found in AT&T Inventory

Last time we heard about the white BlackBerry 9000 Bold we discovered that it was probably not an actual release device but rather third party casings that you could pick up online. According to the BoyGenius’s latest screenshots it looks like we may have to swallow our words. AT&T’s systems are showing a BlackBerry 9000 Bold in white alongside the upcoming BlackBerry 9700 Bold in charcoal.

So anybody counting down the days until AT&T releases the 9700? Personally my black/chrome bold is so scratched up it needs to be replaced…

Premium OSX Mini Theme from Ahead of The Curve Designs

Ok, Ok…so we certainly have lots of Mac OSX themes floating around these days but I haven’t seen a ton of ‘mini’ styles. Larry from Ahead of the Curve Designs answered to the call however, with his latest theme release called, OSX Mini. Available for the 8900, Tour and the Bold OSX Mini is a theme with a few bells and whistles. The banner above probably doesn’t show it all but this video might. I tested the Bold version and the theme worked nice overall. I’m personally not crazy about large icons (in the app screen) but I know many people are. Hence, this may be the perfect theme for you. Quality graphics and a nice, clean look OSX Mini sells for $6.99 regularly but is on sale for $5.99 until the end of the month at Themes4BB.

AT&T Releases Bold OS 4.6.0.297 Bug Fix Update – Visual Voicemail Back!

AT&T released OS 4.6.0.297 awhile ago for the Bold and then quickly yanked it after it caused issues with their network and other problems. Now they have released the same exact OS version with a new maintenance release bundle 517 compared to the older 508.

You can pick it up at www.att.com/bbdownloads but an OTA OS upgrade should also work.

NEW BlackBerry Bold Maintenance Release v4.6.0.517 now available
BlackBerry Bold Maintenance Release bundle version 4.6.0.517 (comprising application version v4.6.0.297 and platform version 4.0.0.247) is now available for customers to download. Bundle 517 contains all the functionality of the recently-removed bundle 508, but addresses the software issue affecting the interaction between the device and network enhancements being deployed. There are no additional changes in bundle 517 (as compared to earlier BlackBerry Bold MR bundle 508) other than addressing the software issue. For a review of the added functionality contained in this release, please see the original communications for BlackBerry Bold Maintenance Release.
Customers who downloaded bundle 508 should upgrade as soon as they are able as bundle 508 contains the software issue that is addressed in bundle 517. Customers on earlier versions (bundle 298 and maintenance release bundle 438) should be made aware of the performance enhancements and added capabilities of bundle 517 and should be encouraged to certify and upgrade their users.
Bundle 517 Maintenance Release is available for customers to download though 2 means:

Over-the-air delivery via OTASL (For information see “FOTA For BES Administrators” on the BlackBerry Enterprise Product Page in OIL)
Download from www.att.com/bbdownloads

Visual Voicemail provisioning has also been re-instated for customers who have upgraded.

Running App World on .190 OS

It has been awhile since I was able to run App World on my Blackberry Bold, running 5.0.0.190 OS. All the previous versions of App World I tried would not run on .190 OS. My fellow writer Todd informed me yesterday that there was a COD file bundle for App World 1.1.0.17 available. I finally tried it today and voila it worked like a charm. Interestingly, the last version showing up on App World as a download was 1.1.0.15.

The zip file comes with 2 COD files and you can upload them to your device using Blackberry Swiss Army Knife application on your PC. Then reset your device and you are good to go.

One of our readers dropped in this link. There’s not a lot of information on availability or carrier but I must say, it looks great. With the upcoming release of the Storm 2 and 9700 this type of thing gets mostly overlooked.

Free Rock Band Theme for the BlackBerry Bold

Now, he knows I’m not much of a gamer but since many of you are, and since he’s real proud of this design…he asked that I give it a mention. Hence, here ya go.

Using basic icons set over vibrant gaphics, Rock Band ha some interesting battery/signal meters on the home page. More information, as well as the free OTA download (for both 9000 & 8900) can be found at this link.

Premium GrassBB Hidden Theme or the 8900, 9000 & 9630

BTDesign emailed me over one of their recent themes called GrassBB. It’s a Hidden Today Theme that is all dewy grass and soft blue skies. I haven’t tested this theme out myself yet but as you can see, the battery/signal meters as well as the time and date are all neatly set up at the top and left hand corners. To the top right, looks like you have a nice spot for your weather app and I know how many of you like that. All in all it looks like a nice theme. Priced at $4.99 until September 30th, GrassBB theme supports the 8900, 9000 (OS 4.6 +) & 9630 (OS 4.7 +) and can be purchased in our Berryreview Store.
