Deck the Halls Holiday Theme With BlackBerry Bold 9900 & 9930 Support

RIM has yet to let developers create themes for BlackBerry 7 devices but that has not stopped Magmic. We told you they had some success getting themes on BlackBerry 7 devices and now we have the fruit of their labor. They have released a Deck the Halls holiday theme for BlackBerrys with support for the latest BlackBerry Bold 9900 and 9930. It also supports BlackBerry 6 devices and will hopefully support other BlackBerry 7 devices in the future.

Official OS 6.0.0.706 for BlackBerry Bold 9700

With all the BlackBerry 7 devices coming out users with BlackBerry 6 devices are still getting some love. Vodafone New Zealand just released the OS 6.0.0.706 for the BlackBerry Bold 9700. No word on how solid this OS is but if you were jonsing for an update then check it out!

We have some new official OS releases today for the BlackBerry Bold 9780 and Curve 9360. These are nice updates for each device so it should be worth a download. No word on what is new but let us know if you like the update!

BlackBerry Bold 9790 vs. BlackBerry Bold 9700 Comparison Pictures

We posted up a ton of pictures comparing the upcoming BlackBerry Bold 9790 (codename Bellagio) with the BlackBerry Bold 9900 & 9810 earlier today. Brian pointed out in the comments that we forgot to compare it to the previous generation BlackBerry Bold 9700/9780 series devices in terms of size and design. We asked our tipster to accommodate and they gladly sent over a bunch more pictures comparing the two devices. From what we are hearing the Bold 9790 is much thinner than its predecessor.

RIM Shows Off the BlackBerry Bold 9788 For China

We told you earlier that RIM announced the frankenberry BlackBerry Bold 9788 for China. Now Adam @CrackBerry spotted a promo video RIM has put up for the device. Nothing really new here but still I am interested to see how this device sells compared to the new Bold and Curve BlackBerry 7 devices.

China Mobile Gets the BlackBerry Bold 9788 with BlackBerry OS 6

I guess this is RIM giving the BlackBerry Bold line a blast to the past. They have announced the new BlackBerry Bold 9788 together with China Mobile today. Its the first BlackBerry to support the Chinese TD-SCDMA network though I cannot quite make out what device it is. It looks like it is a rebuild of the 9700 for China Mobile since it has 256MB of RAM instead of the 9780’s 512MB. Its also shipping with BlackBerry OS 6.

iFrogz Luxe Case Review and Giveaway!

I’ve been testing out this custom case from iFrogz for a couple of weeks now and the more I use it, the more I like it. I am all about keeping cases as thin and minimalistic as possible. This Luxe case does a great job of this. It is made from injection molded, super-durable polycarbonate. The iFrogz website describes this case as having a “metallic finish and plush feel.” It is really tough to describe the feel of the case, but I love it. Its tough, but super soft to the touch. Pretty cool polycarbonate!

The first thing I love about this case is the huge range of color choice options. You can mix and match top and bottom pieces of the case from the iFrogz website and find the color combo/match that suits your personality best. I went with the pure white top and gun metal bottom. Its tough to see in the top photo, but the black portion inside the case is a soft, fuzzy layer to pamper the backside of your berry.

The 2 pieces of the case slide on snugly from the top and bottom until the top ring slides over the bottom circle to lock it into place. It is quite secure, almost to the point of being tough to get off. This could be seen as a pro or con. Its great to not have to worry about having the case coming apart in my pocket, but a little cumbersome when trying to do a quick battery pull. The best method I’ve found to take it apart is lift the bottom edge of the ring while pulling the 2 pieces apart. I’m all about efficiency, but this is definitely not a deal breaker for me. I’d rather have it more secure than worry about it falling apart.

The cutouts on the back match very nicely with the camera and flash. I’m pretty sure the middle cutout is for the external speaker.

The front shows off the slim profile of the Luxe case.

There are 2 cutouts on each side of the case and 2 more on top for the lock and mute keys.

Overall this is an excellent case. After giving it a fair shot, it has definitely grown on me. The custom colors are cool, the soft feel is seriously awesome, and it fits just right.

AT&T Officially Releases OS 6 for Bold 9700

For all of you out there who have been waiting for official releases, ATT has finally released OS 6.0.0.526 for the BlackBerry Bold 9700. AT&T has been dragging along on this one pretty slowly, but they have finally allowed their users to have access to this OS officially. The odd part is that we have already seen much newer official releases for this OS. Big thanks to Tashana for sending this one in!

The BlackBerry Bold 9780 got some love today in the form of a new OS leak. We now have OS 6.0.0.534 courtesy of Rroyy over at CrackBerry Forums. We don’t know much about this build other than it is an East Asian build so you will need to copy over languages from pervious versions if you need support for them. Small Banner 6.1 is custom version of the stock theme that comes with OS6. SCrid2000 has been able to make the top banner a lot smaller, and maintain all of the functionality. He has also added OS6.1 icons. SCrid2000 has also incorporated transparent pop ups/menus, a colorful battery with percentage and colorful WiFi signal meter, that changes from green to yellow to red. Also the alarm icon is red, so that it stands out to ensure that you know it is set. It has the stock trays, but with 6.1 icons, and you can set it to none,1, or 2. One of the quirky things SCrid2000 has also done, is incorporated a spinning earth instead of the hourglass that sometimes comes up, his reason..”I like that hourglass because it feels like it takes days to end”

Last but not least in this mornings OS leaks is OS 6.0.0.526 for the BlackBerry Bold 9780 thanks to BBH-Plus. Its nice to see the device getting progressive OS 6.0 updates though I know 9700 users want some love too. Let us know how the OS is in the comments if you install it!

De-Lexion Theme for OS5 and OS6 by Walker Themes

De-Lexion is slick new theme, that offers true reflections on your homescreen. I have seen many other themes that use fake reflections, and once you put up custom icons, the reflection is gone. Walker Themes has used a custom SVG code to have the reflections show true, no matter what icon you put in to place. I have been running the theme for a few days, and it is fast and clean. De-Lexion also has a hide able weather slot and hidden today.

Walker Themes are new to the theme building scene, but their talent is definitely showing, this theme has great functionality. They have also used a totally custom set of icons that that really cleans the theme up in the app menu. There are 6 customizable icons along the bottom, and now matter which icon you put there, the reflection shows. De-Lexion comes in three colors, Blue, Green, and Pink. The notification area is clean with no cut offs, and custom signal/battery meters as well. Space activates the hidden today, and esc hides it bringing the weather slot (or profile) icon back.

BlackBerry Bold 9780 users just got a nice update thanks to BlackBerryLatino. We now have links to OS 6.0.0.480 for the device. No word on if this version is any good but it cannot hurt to upgrade if you are the “latest and greatest” type.
