The theme is pretty slick and comes with a built in screenshot utility with the ability to post to Facebook and Twitter. The theme is pretty slick though I have to say now I am checking out their whole lineup.

I’ve been testing out this custom case from iFrogz for a couple of weeks now and the more I use it, the more I like it. I am all about keeping cases as thin and minimalistic as possible. This Luxe case does a great job of this. It is made from injection molded, super-durable polycarbonate. The iFrogz website describes this case as having a “metallic finish and plush feel.” It is really tough to describe the feel of the case, but I love it. Its tough, but super soft to the touch. Pretty cool polycarbonate!

The first thing I love about this case is the huge range of color choice options. You can mix and match top and bottom pieces of the case from the iFrogz website and find the color combo/match that suits your personality best. I went with the pure white top and gun metal bottom. Its tough to see in the top photo, but the black portion inside the case is a soft, fuzzy layer to pamper the backside of your berry.

The 2 pieces of the case slide on snugly from the top and bottom until the top ring slides over the bottom circle to lock it into place. It is quite secure, almost to the point of being tough to get off. This could be seen as a pro or con. Its great to not have to worry about having the case coming apart in my pocket, but a little cumbersome when trying to do a quick battery pull. The best method I’ve found to take it apart is lift the bottom edge of the ring while pulling the 2 pieces apart. I’m all about efficiency, but this is definitely not a deal breaker for me. I’d rather have it more secure than worry about it falling apart.

The cutouts on the back match very nicely with the camera and flash. I’m pretty sure the middle cutout is for the external speaker.

The front shows off the slim profile of the Luxe case.

There are 2 cutouts on each side of the case and 2 more on top for the lock and mute keys.

Overall this is an excellent case. After giving it a fair shot, it has definitely grown on me. The custom colors are cool, the soft feel is seriously awesome, and it fits just right.

De-Lexion is slick  new theme, that offers true reflections on your homescreen.  I have seen many other themes that use fake reflections, and once you put up custom icons, the reflection is gone.  Walker Themes has used a custom SVG code to have the reflections show true, no matter what icon you put in to place.  I have been running the theme for a few days, and it is fast and clean.  De-Lexion also has a hide able weather slot and hidden today.

Walker Themes are new to the theme building scene, but their talent is definitely showing, this theme has great functionality.  They have also used a totally custom set of icons that that really cleans the theme up in the app menu.  There are 6 customizable icons along the bottom, and now matter which icon you put there, the reflection shows. De-Lexion comes in three colors, Blue, Green, and Pink.  The notification area is clean with no cut offs, and custom signal/battery meters as well. Space activates the hidden today, and esc hides it bringing the weather slot (or profile) icon back.

For some ridiculous reason RIM decide to restrict the availability of the three free holiday themes they released. At first they were only available to users in the US and Canada but now they have expanded them to more countries. (Thx iBenRowe) The crazy part is that each theme has a different list of countries where it is available. It makes me wonder what the hell is going through RIM’s head when they do these kinds of things…

Sorry for the depressing quote from Inferno but it is not often that you get a BlackBerry game themed after Dante and his 9 levels/circles of hell. Devilish is a new game for the Storm and Torch series devices by veteran theme developer Cocky Culture which has you playing as Dante. You need to take the small devil and make your way up the levels of hell with each ascending level having different challenges and enemies based on the book. Hooked yet? The Devilish game is only available for the BlackBerry Torch and Storm series devices since it relies on the touchscreen for controls. You need to jump from platform to platform by touching the left or right side of the screen while chased by flying demons, flaming arrows, and the three headed Cerberus! It has been years since the last time I have heard of RIM releasing a free theme. They used to do it regularly on mobile.blackberry.com but with the advent of App World it has really dried up. While perusing App World I discovered that RIM has quietly released three free themes for the holidays. The only catch is that they seem to be limited to only US and Canada and seem to work with most OS 4.5+ devices except for the 88XX series and the new Pearl 91XX and Curve 93XX. Not sure why RIM would do that but I guess you cannot complain about free:

First glance of the screen shots alone on this theme got my heart pounding pretty fast. Yeah, it’s a slick theme that gives your BlackBerry Storm or Torch the look of Droid. I tested the Torch version and it ran very smooth while looking extremely sexy. Designed by MBCustomz (who IMO always makes some of the nicest themes out there), bDroidX is dark backgrounds, colorful icons and overall awesome style. And I don’t say ‘awesome’ about many themes. Game no longer needs to be started in portrait mode. It will correctly force portrait mode.

Just when I thought I wasn’t expecting it, a totally hot and slick Torch theme comes along. Well this one isn’t just for the Torch, is actually available for most recent BlackBerry devices. Suited from Ninja Themes is, as they say, perfectly suited for any BlackBerry from the 8900 to the 9800. I played with the Torch theme and it ran flawlessly. This tells me that all the other versions will work as well because I’m hearing from theme developers that Torch theme developing can be quite tricky. So if Ninja got the Torch version spot on, the rest will follow through. OK, so how does it look? Totally, totally sharp and sexy. It’s been a little quiet for theme submissions lately but then poof, they all come in at once. The latest design to come out of Hedone Design is called Sphere. Take note, this is a very simple, grey/black colored theme but with luminous (almost glowing) blue accents. I wouldn’t say I fell head over heels for this theme but I was impressed with the smooth icon dock scrolling feature on the home screen…very slick. The side signal meter tab was confusing at first, but I eventually got the idea. That said, the theme worked really well on my 9700 and didn’t lag one bit. I would suggest heading over to Hedone Design‘s site to check out the screen shots provided so you can get a better idea of how the theme looks on various devices…which Sphere is available for at a $6.99 price point.

I can’t keep up with Hedone Design and all the themes they’ve been pumping out lately but their latest, B3 did catch my eye. A very business like theme (which it was meant to be) with soft grey colors and OS 6 icons B3 offers a center Today screen for calendar, messages and missed calls and a right side sliding dock. When I first went to download the theme it was a whopping 2.5 mb but take note, there are 2 themes in this one package…B3 Pro and B3 Lite. I believe the difference is in the amount of icons on the dock to the right. That said, B3 ran efficiently for me and looked nice overall. Available for a variety of BlackBerry devices, you can purchase B3 (2 themes in 1) for $6.99 at Hedone Design.

This latest theme release, ICONIC, from BerryMobi is pretty wild to say the least. I love the muted blue colors and luminous OS 6.0 icons. This is a no-nonsense theme for sure but it doesn’t lack in elegance and style. As the screen shot above indicates, there’s a lot of icons on the home screen (for those of you who prefer that). For the Storm version however, you have the option of hiding them. With all that’s going on with ICONIC, it still ran extremely smooth for me. • Adjust allowance minutes on current plans
• Make one-time payments and set up and maintain auto-pay
• View upgrade eligibility and contract end date
• Manage Friends & Family® numbers

On top of that you can still use it to manage your account and check your balance. The app also lets you change your plan features, address, reset voicemail passwords, and access the Family Locator service. No word in the press release on exactly how you can get the update but I am assuming that Verizon is pushing out an icon to your Storm or Storm.

So far the following devices have been confirmed to have this processor:

• BlackBerry Bold 9000
• BlackBerry Pearl 9100
• BlackBerry Curve 9300
• BlackBerry Storm 9500
• BlackBerry Bold 9700

And it looks like the BlackBerry Torch 9800 got the same processor though I am still waiting to confirm that… So I have to ask why is RIM so tied to this processor that is 2 years old? CDMA devices seem to be running a different Qualcomm processor but I have not had a chance to compile that data. If anything RIM needs an upgrade just to be able to FINALLY add OpenGL support for GSM devices like they did for CDMA devices.

BlackBerry Pro, Version 5, created by the ever-talented Natemz is well, well worth its weight in gold. It runs like a charm, has gorgeous graphics and is extremely efficient. With seven different colors to choose from there is a version for everyone of you. Yeah, you can see why I am so thrilled about this theme.

Colorful abstract graphics that seem to ‘swish’ across your screen and a pop-up today screen that magically appears when you press the ‘space’ bar make me sorta keen on Keen. This latest release offers an interesting and simplistic look with a unique home screen set-up. Though I’m not someone who loves intricate themes, I found Keen pretty easy to maneuver about on my 9700. Read the description below to see if this theme might be your style. Available for the 8900, 9000, 9500, 9600 & 9700.

Description:

The Keen theme is rockin’ 6-8 customizable photo icons, a weather slot, 4-5 (locked) quick access icons and a quick preview Today area. The Photographic icons and clear glass style are completely unobtrusive allowing you to choose your look. Keen is all about showing off that awesome wallpaper you found. Click the close button to turn off all of your display icons to completely free up the background. If you’ve got a keyboard device, hitting the “Space” will bring it all back up. Storm users can simply click anywhere on the screen.
