A few days ago Josep sent me a link to a great knowledgebase article that details the differences between BES and BIS. This is a quick fact sheet and does not get down into the gritty details but it is a great resource for explaining the difference to new users.

I have heard about this issue a few times today since BIS 2.5 went live with Windows Live push mail. So I thought it would be worth pointing out this Knowledgebase article that Remzi sent me.
Turns out that if you have Windows Live Messenger running on your computer it will not let your BlackBerry work [...]

RIM has provided some good guides on how to setup BIS 2.5 and what you can do with it. Remzi has done me a favor and emailed a few my way. Let me know if I missed any.

I know we have been mentioning BIS 2.5 quite a bit recently but its quite exciting. We finally have HTML emails for everybody on OS 4.5+. Nice work RIM!
Along with BIS 2.5 we get:
HTML emails
Attachments up to 3 megabytes
Download and save attachments to memory card. (This really makes documents to go useful)

Vodacom has just launched BIS 2.5 ahead of many other carriers who are scheduled for the next week or two. Sorry guys if you don’t have it enabled already but when you do let us know!

Raffy just sent me this message and it was confirmed by the same from Joe at www.dataoutages.com. It seems like the upcoming BIS 2.5 with HTML email and all will be going down next weekend. From what I can tell the activation will happen the next day.

If you are like me you will probably enjoy using IMAP for Gmail integration on your BlackBerry. I found that it has better syncronization of deleted and archived messages.

All of you BIS users rejoice. BIS 2.5 is almost upon us and RIM has released the full feature list for the latest update. Many of these features requires OS 4.5 along with BIS 2.5 so don’t get your hopes up so fast… Thanks Josep for the tip!
