elertifyVirtualViews offered us 30 copies of their new Elertify app to give away to 30 lucky winners. The contest is now over and the winners can be found after the jump. If you won don’t forget to thank VirtualViews in the comments for this awesome prize.

In case you didn’t win you still might want to check Elertify out. Elertify alerts you to new emails by reading them out loud to you when your phone is connected to your PC over USB. Essentially when your BlackBerry is connected to your PC the app can display a popup preview of messages for email, SMS, and calls and lets you hear who is calling or emailing/texting you using the built in voice synthesizer. The app is available now for $4.99 on sale until Nov 15th after which it goes up to $5.99.

ScreenHunter_01 Nov. 04 21.31Review: www.Drivesafe.ly Pro for BlackBerry
Rating: ★★★★★★★★★☆
Price:
Free or Pro for $13.99

I been testing out drivesafe.ly for the past few days which I find useful since I drive a lot during the day. With two BlackBerry’s on me at all times & on the road I like having a safe and easy way to know whether the message I just receive needs my immediate attention without being distracted from the road. With many states banning texting while driving & the fact that it is dangerous this comes in handy.  I have tested similar technologies that promised good service but they have not met expectations.

Google Maps Adds Overlay Layer for New York City Subway

Google-Maps-subway When Google Maps 3.2 was released a bit ago I got all excited about being able to overlay the NYC subway on top of the map view. I was saddened to learn that this feature was not available at launch though it was available in other markets.

I just checked yesterday and it looks like Google has added it! Just fire up Google Maps and go to Menu->Layers->More Layers->Transit Lines. You will then see the NYC subway map overlayed on the regular map like you see in this screenshot.

If you don’t already have Google Maps pick it up at m.google.com/maps
