BlackBerry Slider Specs Leaked (And Release Date)?

BlackBerry Slider at MWC World

After the Oslo’s confirmation, we are hearing yet another device’s information coming out. This time, it is the hot and highly anticipated Slider! Unfortunately though, there’s no tell-tale on the OS it will be running :(

Here’s the BlackBerry “Venice” a.k.a. Slider specifications:

  • 5.4-inch Quad-HD display
  • 18 MP rear-camera
  • 5 MP front-camera
  • 1.8 GHz Hexa-core (Snapdragon 808 chipset) 64-bit
  • 3 GB RAM

The phone industry flagships right NOW are flagging the Snapdragon 808/810 chipset already, and by November, would this be outdated already (at least on paper specs wise)? What do you guys think?

  1. 64-bit!!!! Finally!!!!!

Now, to sit patiently till they release a 64-bit full touchscreen…

  2. Please no, BlackBerry getting in a specs battle with the likes of Samsung/LG/HTC/etc would be foolhardy. And by all means, avoid the 810 like the plague unless you want to call this the Blackberry “Oven”.

Focus on one of the core principles BlackBerry has almost always been best at, ALL DAY usability.

    • Sure…and guess where that principle landed them…
BB has to play ball with other competitors and keep the core principles with that. This phone is meant to be an iPhone rival, not a hardcore BB according to Chen. Also running a full android OS…all x-die hards or BB owners are more likely to sway back especially, the slider concept where you have a keyboard and a full touch screen as well.

      • I don’t see this thing rivaling any iPhone, ever. The probable market volume for a iPhone-like device that has a slide out full keyboard dried up years ago. The vast majority of the consumer market just doesn’t care about hiving a keyboard any more, and is unlikely to ever go back. If there was real market demand, Apple themselves would have put out a true iPhone with a keyboard. Looks more to me like a sell-out than serious competition to anything the “big boys” offer.

        • When did the iphone ever have an 18mp rear camera? I hope the new slider phone comes with BB10 OS – the best OS and not the rumoured Android OS.

  3. I will buy a slider with BB10. Android powered… meh!
