BlackBerry Pulls Typo Back Into Court

Typo iPhone keyboard case

After a painful loss for Ryan Seacrest backed company, Typo, it seems like Typo is getting another hit. After ignoring the injunction, they decided it was apt to release Typo 2. Despite making it even more ugly and losing out to BlackBerry in terms of quality, it is clear that Typo is still bent on milking it cash cow.

Just as they did with the Typo Keyboard, Defendants have again copied numerous proprietary BlackBerry designs and patents in the Typo2 Keyboard. The Typo2 Keyboard still blatantly copies BlackBerry’s iconic keyboard trade dress designs that have been embodied in numerous BlackBerry smartphones from the 2007 BlackBerry 8800 to the current Q10 and Classic models. The Typo2 Keyboard also infringes numerous BlackBerry utility patents related to BlackBerry’s proprietary keyboard design, backlighting and typing automation technologies.

Whilst I am sure John Chen is more than happy to receive these free publicity and donations from Typo, hey, if you want the great typing experience, get a proper device from BlackBerry!
