New BBM Update Brings Out A Load of New Features!

Earlier this month, we let you know that BlackBerry was looking to introduce new features that helps to enhance privacy. Well, today, BlackBerry is officially rolling it out now. What do you guys think of it?

Here’s a quick overview of what you’ll find in this latest release of BBM:

  • Timed Messages: Set how long contacts have access to messages and pictures shared in a chat*
  • Message Retraction: ‘Retract’ a message to remove it from your BBM chat*
  • A quicker sticker picker: Adding stickers to your BBM chats is now even quicker with a new picker
  • HD Picture Transfer: It’s easier than ever to get a high quality version of the pictures you receive in BBM
  • Discover Music: See what music your contacts are listening to in BBM Feeds.

However, some features may not be free afterall:

Timed Messages and Message Retraction features are premium features that will be available free and without restriction over the next three months. After this time, unrestricted access to these features will become part of a broader bundle of features that will be offered as part of a BBM subscription.

How and how much do you think BlackBerry should charge?

  1. It should be free for BlackBerry users should get it free, others – $10 a year for message retraction, $15 a year for message retraction and times messgaes; looks like their reintroducing BBM music, goodn now they have wider audience.

  2. It must be free or very close to free as I can’t see many people would want to pay for these features. If these features are free then I can see blackberry gain users / market share as a result but it is not important enough for the average consumer to want to pay for it. They would be shooting themselves in the foot again if BB wants to charge the average Joe for something they may. Maybe the enterprise users…

If they had to charge then I like the previous suggestion to waive the fee for BlackBerry owners but charge $2 per year for other OS users.

  3. I love bbm

  4. You forgot BBM meetings. Support is in the latest BBM, but the service will go live on Nov 13th, I believe.
