John Chen Puts His Chances of Saving BlackBerry at 80/20 (Video)

John Chen was at the Re/Code conference today and shared some interesting tidbits with the folks in attendance. He first of all stated that he puts his odds of saving BlackBerry at 80/20. He said he is confident “we can save the patient” and said he may not be the most qualified person to run BlackBerry but “I’m the only one they could find.” He went on to say that he thinks the handset business can actually lead to more shareholder value which is why he has not jettisoned it. He even went on to say that he has another device in the works that Telecom companies will love.

In a final zinger he declined to comment on if BlackBerry would make Android phones… Check out the video below:

  1. Very awkward interview, especially about BlackBerry Messenger part.

    • In Chen’s defense, these were poor interviewers.

      • Actually that was what I meant to say…the setup was like a setup with horrible attitudes and miserable questions/phrases…very unprofessional.

  2. Yeah he is usually much better

  3. Really?!? What a stupid question: I know I need my phone to be secure, but do I really need my house to be secured??!! Helloo… you might as well open all your doors and windows and let people in to take your stuff, use your Wi-Fi to commit more crime. OMG I just about sprayed coffee across my keyboard.
