BlackBerry OS Officially Rolling Out In Canada And Europe!

BlackBerry OS

Apart from the sunny little island, we have been notified that Canada and John let us know that Egypt too, has the started to roll out the maintenance update. From Rogers (CA) to T-Mobile and Vodafone in Europe, seems like the update is heading out globally!

If you are indeed updating, do not forget to backup your device first and ensure that you are connected to power source as well as a stable Wi-Fi.

So what is new?

  1. Go to settings
  2. Select software updates
  3. Click check for updates now

If that does not pull in for you, give your device a reboot.

  1. As this includes Vodafone, Vodacom South Africa automatically is approved for the update, which is also available.

  2. It’s also being released by Telstra in Australia.

  3. I’m doing a clean wipe and format my SD card with this OS, some reason the non destructive upgrade isn’t as good as the destructive method (Debrick).

  4. I had 5.5GB used out of a total of 8GB on my Q5. Yet it kept telling me to delete unused apps because it required an additional 530mb of Ram to complete the download/install of the new update.

Then I find out that I received 2 updates back to back, one was 108MB download and the other was 988MB download. It took my RAM all the way up to 7.7GB out of 8GB, and after a restart I am back to 5.5GB.

    I find this quite ODD….

    • Hi Nick.

It may have seemed to be the case that you received two different updates. However BlackBerry have a mechanism in place that if the there is an interruption in the original update and install, the update will revert to downloading the full OS. I had the exact same issue with the initial update, where it failed at 99mb of 103mb, it then promptly reverted to the full OS download.

  5. Thanks for the clarification Gareth. Much Appreciated.

  6. hmmm it may be out on Rogers but Telus has yet to roll it out 🙁

  7. I am receiving the update from Bell right now.

  8. Have you tested it? Out there they report that it is creating issues.
Someone suggest to first wipe out and do a fresh full install.
Though : how to wipe it out the BlackBerry with OS 10?
    Thank you
