BlackBerry Brings iOS-Like “Interactive Lock Screen Notification” to OS 10.3

Speed Tirage2

It looks like BlackBerry is trying to adopt some features to make iOS users feel a bit more at home on BlackBerry OS 10.3. I was digging through the features and found that under the hub there is the option to turn on the screen for new notifications. Hardcore BlackBerry users are used to the notification lights for new messages but iOS users are accustomed to the screen turning on and showing you the notification.

Right now turning on this feature works more often than not but it is not foolproof. It seems like BlackBerry has some kinks to iron out but its interesting to see them trying to add these popular iOS usability traits that have shown up on some Android phones too.

  1. Can you get a screenshot of the actual notification? Thanks!

  2. It just turns on the screen

    • Oh okay, thanks. When you wrote “iOS-like”, I was expected them to look different.

    • I don’t want it to – I get too many messages that my screen won’t turn off. Apple did that because they don’t have a red message notification light. What BB has in 10.2.1 is sufficient for me, so this is something I won’t use. As Peter mentions below, the wake-on-lift 10-15 seconds after a message notification would be more useful.

  3. And I’m completely happy with a black screen in any case, and a little red light to blink. But hey, if it get some of the ‘others’ over to Blackberry, good stuff.
