I was waiting for one of my contacts to get back to me about this BlackBerry Link update for Mac and Windows before mentioning it. I confirmed that this latest BlackBerry Link update is set to address a very unlikely but possible exploit of BlackBerry Link via the Heartbleed OpenSSL bug that made the news the last few weeks. BlackBerry has confirmed that the following BlackBerry Link versions are no longer vulnerable to the Heartbleed bug:
- BlackBerry Link for Windows earlier than version 1.2.3.48 (bundle46)
- BlackBerry Link for Mac OS earlier than version 1.2.1.16 (bundle21)
Keep in mind that before this BlackBerry Link was only vulnerable to the Heartbleed bug from other machines on the same local network and are not usually publicly accessible. You can download the latest version of BlackBerry Link on BlackBerry’s website.
