BlackBerry Finally Removing Icon Limit in BlackBerry 10 Folders

Endless Folders

For some reason the UI designers who originally created BlackBerry 10 decided there should be a limit to how many icons can be in a folder. These designers must not have spoken to the developers who created the legacy BlackBerry devices which never had this limit. Thankfully it looks like BlackBerry is going to finally revert this usability blunder and allow us to have what they call “Endless Folders” and what I call “regular folders not crippled by idiotic design limitations.”

That means you will finally be able to store more items in a folder than what you can see on a screen. This is especially necessary on the Q10 with only 3 lines of icons visible. Now you will have an indicator on the bottom of the folder showing how many pages of icons are in a folder.

I totally concur with Michael Clewley is saying that this was “just one of those things we’ve listened about.” The real question is what took so damn long!

  1. Do we have to wait till 10.3?

  2. The real question for me 2 years ago was, even though it’s far too late for BlackBerry, who thought completely abandoning almost every design aspect that had evolved into OS7 over YEARS was the right direction for BlackBerry 10? I think we know, and at least those failures of CEO’s are gone now. But like I said, it’s too late. BlackBerry could have been a strong #3 to iOS and Android, instead they pushed the masses away from their phones and into the waiting arms of the enemy.
