Just like the BlackBerry Z10, the BlackBerry Z30 comes with an array of similar official accessories, like the leather pouch, leather flip case and in this case, the transformer case. As the name suggests, it is supposed to transform the device into a stand for it to act like a portable player or perhaps even a clock. Built similarly to the BlackBerry Z10’s transform case, the BlackBerry Z30’s transformer case comes in 3 colours.

The accessory, come with a normal plastic hard case, with the back being replaced by rubber. Half of this rubber is semi-detachable, to act like a stand for the device and case. This was an improvement over the Z10’s version which had the case itself as semi-detachable, which left the phone exposed on the table itself when transformed into the stand. As such, in this case, when it is transformed, it is still protected in the case.

The case protects mainly the back and the four corners on the device, leaving the top, sides and bottom and of course, the screen exposed at all times. Honestly, I am not quite a fan of these, but it is useful, especially if you watch plenty of media on this device.

Coming in white, Black/Blue and Black combination, BlackBerry seems to have omitted the red colours for the Z30 line of accessories. If you watch a lot of media on your devices, be sure to give this casing a go!

  1. I like the concept but it snaps on too tight that when I have to press the power but to lock the screen it keeps the button depressed that it goes in to shutdown mode. Then I have to remove the case for the button to pop back up.

    • Are you sure the case you got is for the Z30? Mine fits and there’s nothing near the power button.

  2. I probably need to work it in more, but if I don’t place it just right then the stand tends to close and the device falls over. I liked how the Z10 version could be ‘opened’ on either end — at night I would stand it so that the USB connector faced up and I could charge it. With the Z30 case, I need to put it on ‘upside down’ to get the same effect. But plugging in a USB cable when the stand is already rather unstable has not been a great success.

  3. I think this is a great low profile case. I don’t watch videos on my device, but could see an issue with location of ports. I have also noticed the stand will slip closed when standing.
