BlackBerry’s Managing Director in Australia and New Zealand, Matthew Ball, explained a little of the companies strategy going forward under his direction. In an interview with SMH, Matthew explained that BlackBerry is moving to capitalize on being a “trusted consultancy” for security and mobile device management. In a nutshell he sums it up by saying:
"We can say to clients ‘you guys choose your device, your operating system, and we’ll help with the management and the security of it’."
He does clarify that BlackBerry is including the consultancy in the price of the service so it is not a traditional consultant relationship. He stresses how BlackBerry is working to make this a longer term relationship than just buying a phone. Should be interesting to see how well BlackBerry does in this market that they dominated as a hardware+software combo player.
