3 New BlackBerry Devices To Cater To Keyboard Aficionados

It seems like apart from BlackBerry Classic, BlackBerry will be working to bring to the table 3 keyboard “classics”. According to Reuters, BlackBerry Ltd plans to introduce high-end smartphones that cater to keyboard aficionados in the coming 18 months, in an effort to win back core corporate and government clients who have shunned the company’s touch-screen devices. Whether or not these devices will see the light of the day, I guess we will only know that in time.

Of course, the first device would be the BlackBerry Classic or the Q20 which have already been announced last month at the MWC, but the other 3 mystery devices which will be for the high-end market is pretty interesting.

However, could it be that they have 3 different variants of the Q20 or have 3 actual models? My thought would be that 3 models might actually come out in the next 18 months, and BlackBerry would be refreshing their devices lines faster right now.

Also, earlier in the earnings conference call, they mentioned that the BlackBerry Q20 will be launching alongside with the BES 12, which means a October – November timeframe, which pretty much confirms on what the previous leaks mentioned.

What do you guys think of this? Is there still a future for buttons?

  1. Yes believe there is a future for QWERTY based keyboards. Though IMO they plan on releasing 3 different versions, something like mimicking the BOLD (Q20), then the Torch flipper and perhaps another style such as the touch sensitive keyboard.

On a side note, John did state they plan on also releasing a special device that’s geared to getting New Customers onto BB10. That device must be the Z50 full touch IMO.

  2. If BlackBerry really wants to really get back in the game, the need 3 high end all touch phones and plenty of advertisements.
