The leak of the older BlackBerry OS 10.3 seems to keep on bringing new improvements to light. We have heard a bit about the codename “Windermere” device with its 4.5” screen and 452dpi resolution with the main feature being a touch sensitive keyboard. This means you will not only be able to push buttons on the device but you could also perform gestures like a trackpad. Master sleuth Ofutur dug up some of the gestures for the Windermere’s compact hybrid keyboard and it looks like it will be like a huge trackpad with loads of bonus options. Here are the gestures he found so far:
- Tap
- Swipe down
- Swipe up (validates word)
- Swipe left (deletes word)
- Swipe right
- Touch up
- Touch down
- Touch + move
In other words the keyboard will let you click, swipe, and drag items around on the device. It looks like they are essentially turning the whole keyboard into one huge trackpad. A very interesting concept if they manage to get it into production and released ASAP. The only other thing brought up is that the icons on the Windermere screen will be a 5×4 grid on its 4.5” screen compared to the rumored Ontario’s 5” screen with a 4×5 grid and 440dpi.

So, what are the combinations for the menu key and dial/hang up buttons?

Interesting. I am liking this sensitive touch keyboard technology. Could very well be a game changer and quite innovative.
Looking forward to more pictures and details.
