Signs of 1080p Device Show Up in BlackBerry OS 10.3 Leak

More signs are pointing towards BlackBerry considering a 1080p device in the future. Bla1ze spotted1080p a bunch of 1080p assets in core apps like Box, Dropbox, Clock, and more. We have seen 1440×1440 resolution before as the Windermere and 1080p device rumors for Ontario and then Mjolnir. No word on if either is planned to be 1080p but OS 10.3 is showing signs that at least somebody is working on it.

What do you think? Do you want a 1080p BlackBerry 10 device?

  1. As regards 1080p, I don’t feel that I’m missing anything; of course, my thought may change when I download it, but until then, I don’t have a void yearning for it.

  2. Those folders have been there for a while, they’re from 2013. In 2014, BlackBerry is using design units.

Here is something I posted on a forum 😉

In order to make it easier for apps to target devices coming with various dpis, BlackBerry has introduced internally, last September, something called “Design Units”.

Developers will no longer have to define their own asset categories based on screen resolution and size when designing responsive apps, they will simply use design units and Cascades will automatically pick the right UI elements depending on the device.
    There are currently 4 categories:
    8ppd (Z30)
    9ppd (Q10
    10ppd (Z10)
    12ppd (1080p, 1440^2)
16ppd (Very high dpi or a mistake)
