Mysterious “Easter Egg” Spotted in Leaked OS 10.3 Clock App

BlackBerry has been known to hide some funny items in their BlackBerry 10 native apps. The latest was spotted by Caltrmptguy86 on CB Forums (Thx QT) in the OS 10.3 leaked Clock app. There is a PNG image file in the app directory titled Happy Easter which was just a QR code. If you scan the QR Core it reveals the following secret message:

Twelve Easter Egg Models
Seven Are Wonderful
Four Live in the Backdoor
One Will be Revealed

Happy Easter

That just makes me think of Lord of the Rings with a promising message of “one device to rule them all.” Now you just have to wonder which model is the “One.”

Here is the message decoded:

  1. This is really strange. The coder nerds are laughing evilly right now.

  2. Hate to say it, but this stuff has been around since 10.2. Saw it all when cracking the fostah backdoor.

The backdoor has since been disabled, but all the various files and hints have been left behind.

  3. My take on it:

12 easter egg models (12 BB10 devices in all)

    7 are wonderful:
    porsche design

4 live in the backdoor (being tested):
    qwerty 5″ (windermere?)
    all touch 5″ (ontario?)
    capacitive (3 layer qwerty)
    playbook 2.0

    one will be revealed:
expect only one new bb10 model this year.

  4. Interesting

  5. z3 and q20 for this year, no?
