Cancelled BlackBerry Kopi Caught on Camera Again

When John Chen took the helm of BlackBerry he decided to team up with Foxconn for low cost devices and cancelled the two low end C-Series (Cafe) and K-Series devices. Instead Foxconn announced the BlackBerry Z3 and the low cost QWERTY model remains the Q5 for now. N4BB spotted (via Webio) some more pictures of this cancelled Kopi K-Series QWERTY device which was supposed to have a faster processor and is supposedly still making the rounds to BlackBerry partners…

Either way its interesting to see what BlackBerry has in their labs.

  1. This may be good for Emerging Markets right beside the Z3.
    Who knows.

So what does that mean? Now that Foxconn is designing and building the devices, BB doesn’t have [enough] control over the devices to say what does and doesn’t go out to vendors?? This is definitely not a good thing. We could end up with as many odd devices out there as Android! Then again, they could flood the market with devices at all price points and types which could, in a roundabout way, zero in on “one BB to rule them all” in that it would flush out what consumers prefer. At which point, they could drop or significantly reduce the production of the other devices.
