BlackBerry Scores Enterprise MDM Wins in Australia and Latin America

BES Devices

We are hearing from many sources about BlackBerry getting some solid wins upgrading enterprises to BlackBerry 10 and BES 10. I just heard about some big government wins in Canada (Environment Canada) and more. On top of that BlackBerry let us know that Australian ICT research firm Telsyte independently confirmed that BlackBerry was the most widely implemented MDM solution in Australia in 2013. BlackBerry also confirmed that the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) and Questas, a professional services company, are now using BES 10 as their MDM.

On top of that BlackBerry also hit it big with Itau Unibanco, the largest private bank in Latin America, and is now upgrading more than 7,000 BlackBerry 10 smartphones and implementing BES10.

  1. I’m hearing about big Canadian Government wins for BES10 and BB10 too.
Many Government organizations in Canada were testing out iOS and Android for a possible replacement of its existing BBOS. Good thing the other platforms failed security miserably.
Hopefully all this comes out in BBRY’s next quarterly results.

  2. Would like to see some US uptake from the government and DOD.

  3. I work for the City of Toronto, and we have several 1,000 BBOS devices online. We haven’t upgraded them to newer BBOS versions because the IT department is under pressure to find a low cost mobile device management plan. I could comfortably state we have been testing iPhones and Android devices. The issue here is major security issues. Even older BB6 and BB7 topples them in security.

But they seen reluctant to go BES10 due to the fact that setup fails to manage older BBOS devices. Now with BES12 is on route to help close that gab, interest has come back for a BB10 and BES10 upgrade.

They now might implement BES10 and BB10 for all upper management personal, while BES5 continues to manage BBOS devices.

Anyhow my point, Government continues to cut costs, and plan on using the good old BOLDS until they literally die.

I will keep you all up-to-date as to the decisions being made. At this point iOS and Android have failed security. And IT not currently interested with WP8.
