Brazilian Bank Itaú Unibanco Upgrades 7000 Devices to BlackBerry 10 & BES 10


BlackBerry scored another big enterprise win this week with Brazilian Bank Itaú Unibanco. The have confirmed that they are going to upgrade more than 7,000 BlackBerry smartphones to BlackBerry 10 starting with 1,000 BlackBerry Q5 phones together with OS 10.2.1 and BES 10. This is probably all about BlackBerry getting more of their customers to migrate especially with the new EZ Pass Program.

Itaú Unibanco upgrades its smartphones and Management Solution to BlackBerry 10

BlackBerry Limited (NASDAQ: BBRY; TSX), a world leader in mobile communications, and Itaú Unibanco, the largest private bank in Latin America, today announced that Itaú Unibanco is upgrading its base of more than 7,000 BlackBerry® smartphones to BlackBerry® 10 smartphones. The bank is initially deploying 1,000 BlackBerry® Q5 smartphones, and will be taking its base to BlackBerry 10 OS version 10.2.1 and BlackBerry® Enterprise Service 10 for enterprise mobility management (EMM), in order to manage and its smartphone environment and protect corporate data.

The need for a solution that meets the strict security requirements of the financial sector and allows for a high-level IT control without impacting on end users’ experience was what led Itaú Unibanco to BlackBerry.

  2. This is the kind of positive news BlackBerry needs every single day. Showing how huge enterprise businesses are climbing on board the BB10 bandwidth.
    And I have to admit the Q5 is a very well made device, I should know, I use one every day now. And loving it A LOT.

  3. That’s 7000 BB phones out of 95,700 employees. Can you imagine this company buying up more? Equip everybody with a superior BB10 device and watch productivity triple IMO.
