94% of T-Mobile’s BlackBerry Trade-Ins Switched Platforms

Tmobile update

We told you earlier that T-Mobile was raving about their 15x increase in T-Mobile BlackBerry trade-ins in the past two weeks after they added their $200 promotion. Now more details are coming out courtesy of TmoNews and the picture is not pretty. Supposedly 94% of the trade-ins in the past two weeks switched to non-BlackBerry devices with a different OS. I more or less saw this coming when T-Mobile announced this promotion as a response to the spat the companies CEO had with BlackBerry’s CEO a few weeks back. In other words T-Mobile’s gesture for Blackberry fans ended up being John Chen’s trojan horse.

Hopefully BlackBerry has a better response this time…

  1. Why is this surprising? They offered refurbished Z10’s and Q10’s. Plus their sales reps pretty much laugh at you for even thinking of BlackBerry. Actually, 6% is high under the circumstances. Plus, 94% of what number?

  2. Absolutely. Even now in their advertisements, they say “Trade in your BlackBerry, or if you want a real premium phone get an iPhone. Blackberry really needs to up their marketing game if they want to succeed. BlackBerry – the only true premium phone.
