Trend Micro Now Certifying Apps in BlackBerry World

Guardian

We told you earlier that Trend Micro was working with BlackBerry to scan apps in BlackBerry World for malware. Now BlackBerry has launched the new BlackBerry Guardian app analysis engine based on Trend Micro’s Mobile App Reputation technology. This works with both manual and automated analysis to identify malware and privacy infringing apps. The new reputation scans both current and new Android applications in BlackBerry World. BlackBerry is starting to place a BlackBerry Guardian and Trend Micro logo on all certified apps to show they were analyzed.

Its nice to see BlackBerry going the extra mile here. Now this may possibly open the door to allowing Android apps in the Work partition on BlackBerry 10.

  1. Now, if BlackBerry would add a part in BlackBerry 10 which if at any point Trend Micro detects some malware later on in the software it had already approved to stop it from running and notify the user, that would be cool.
