64-Bit Octa-core BlackBerry Phone Rumored to Be Coming This Year

Developing Hands

The rumor mill is spinning about a new 64-Bit Octa-core BlackBerry phone coming in 2014. Pocket-lint has gotten confirmation from a trusted source that a new BlackBerry phone this year will 100% have a 64-Bit processor with OpenGL 3 support. The most interesting part is that the rumor pegs the phone for September 2014 and not 2015. We don’t have much else to go on but supposedly this may be running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8994 platform with up to 2.5Ghz per core.

This could really just be a prototype but it definitely seems like BlackBerry is aiming high end for their own phones.

  1. This would technically be the 2015 fiscal year.

    • Yes, it is the 2015 fiscal year they were talking about.

      • No they were talking about 2014 of this year. Even in an Interview with John Chen, he was presented by this question and he neither claimed nor denied. He did state they are indeed working on something special to try and get back into the North American Market with a special device, which he claimed he wishes it to be available this Sept. 2014.

  2. That’s what I’m talkin’ about! Yeah!!

Actually, since they’re deemed to be small market, they can’t compete with all the cheap Androids from China and the slow-to-move iPhones, they have less competition perhaps at the high end. Own it!
