CEO John Chen Reveals His Turnaround Strategy in Forbes Interview

BlackBerry’s new CEO, John Chen, has not been shy with the media. His latest interview is with Forbes in their latest March 3rd issue. He goes on to explain a bit more about his turnaround strategy for BlackBerry and how he believes BlackBerry can survive as a small player just like Porsche and Lamborghini do in the automotive industry. He believes there is a large enough segment of users looking for “serious computing” which want a keyboard. He then goes on to detail exactly where those potential customers are:

There’s a huge market segment out there for any regulated industry. Governments, financial services, health care. I think we can go capture those and become a winner.

(Notice how prosumers are not mentioned there) Chen goes on to detail how turnarounds require you to get things right most of the time and not suffer mistakes. Here is to hoping BlackBerry can pull that off!

  1. I’m self employed and my Berry takes care of everything almost perfectly.

  2. I really hope that there is always an all touch Blackberry. I don’t want to go back to a qwerty ever. If Blackberry ever kills the touch I’m gone.

  3. Touch or qwerty as long as it is a BlackBerry I’m happy. Now if they would only make a native app of the idea I have that would help everyone that uses the Calendar daily it would be perfect.
