Long time BlackBerry executive, Andrew Bocking (Photo Right), was head of the BBM division as BlackBerry broke it out into its own sort of startup. Now BGR learned from multiple sources that Andrew Bocking has left the company. BlackBerry has confirmed as much in this statement below:
I can confirm that Andrew Bocking, EVP, BBM has made the decision to leave BlackBerry. We thank him for his years of leadership and contribution.
The confusing part now is that there seems to be conflicting reports on if he left, was poached, or was fired. BGR heard from one source that they may be rolling the BBM division into the BlackBerry Enterprise division. Another rumor had him replacing his BlackBerry with an Android phone. Weird news all around.
