Composing In Plain Text On BlackBerry OS 10.2.1

There is one thing for me that I have missed with BlackBerry OS 10 and that is the ability to compose in ‘Plain Text’ or view obscure emails with the ‘Get Plain Text’ menu option that OS 7 and earlier brought us. OS 10.2.1 now brings some of that back in the form plain text composing  which can be changed from the dotted menu and back to ‘HTML format’.

The only limitation is viewing plain text from an already received email which is where I used this the most. My work around here is to temporarily forward the email and then change the compose format.

BlackBerry outlines this through a KB Article Here

Upgrade the BlackBerry 10 smartphone device software to version 10.2.1.

The ability to change text formatting is an option when composing email, follow the steps below to change text formatting.

  • Compose a new email
  • Click on the more button with three dots above at the bottom right hand corner of the compose email screen.
  • Select Plain Text format
  • A warning is displayed, Changing to Plain Text will remove the HTML formatting for the entire message or thread.
  • Press OK

  1. Doesn’t it feel like they finally got some of the guys who made BlackBerry OS 7 to work on BlackBerry 10 and they were all saying “WTF happened to all the great BlackBerry features?”

  2. How about Blackberry protect? what ever happened to the contacts, calander, password keeper…etc backup everyday and remote wipe?
We got numb to the idea of loosing everything we had.
