BlackBerry 10.2.1 Rollout Rumored To Start on January 28th

I have been hearing rumors that BlackBerry OS 10.2.1 is scheduled for a late January early February rollout which fits in line with what we have heard officially from BlackBerry. Now N4BB managed to hear from a source about a specific date for the rollout in Europe and APAC. That date is January 28th and would still fit BlackBerry in the January time frame they were hoping for. You can expect carriers in the US, especially AT&T, to roll out OS 10.2.1 sometime in 2015.

BlackBerry OS 10.2.1 really cannot come soon enough for BlackBerry. Hopefully BlackBerry finds a way to properly promote its ability to sideload popular Android apps. It will be tricky for them to promote being able to easily download Instagram in the browser but not in BlackBerry World.

  1. As a Canadian I apologize to our American brothers and sisters who will likely not enjoy the official loveliness of 10.2.1 until Mars One returns.

  2. I love your optimistic sarcasm…which is true by the way.
Thanks to Sachesi, we are not bound by our carrier any more as long as the OS is available elsewhere.

  3. It won’t be “side loading” anymore after 10.2.1. Also, BlackBerry can always offer up app stores like Amazon and the AndroidEffect site. Yes, it will be interesting to see how they market this. Hope they don’t fumble it like they’ve done the past few years. No one knows how great BB10 is because even casual users aren’t educated about its features, power and flexibility. BlackBerry has a great secret – a winner but it’s hidden and rarely spoken about.

    • Yup I hope they have a story planned for it.

      • I wanna see some how to ads: “this is how easy it is to ‘blah’ on BlackBerry 10.” how how easy it is to find and launch apps, to share stuff, to type on the touch screen, to multi-task, to download Android apps… These series of ads would be killer! they would also show the mis-informed how powerful the BB10 platform really is!

  4. I have to agree with bbfanboi. Strategic marketing and advertising should help squash all the nonsense doom/gloom news stories being spread around.

Once people try a BB10 device, it would feel like a blast in the future. BB10 has already proven to be more superior than any other mobile platform in existance.

Eventually BBRY will build up its ecosystem, and this unique BB10 update will further fuel that ecosystem by way of Android Apps.

Had the previous management not mess up BB10’s awareness, device price and marketing, according to my estimation, BB10’s ecosystem would have doubled by now.

  5. Would be nice on BlackBerry 10’s first anniversary on January 31st to have BlackBerry 10.2.1 released…
