BlackBerry 10.2.1 Bringing “Floating Action Bar” With Back Button

Clewley

Those of you who have been missing their back button are getting some love in OS 10.2.1 if you have not played with the betas yet. BlackBerry has added what they call a “Floating Action Bar” on top of the keyboard in many apps that gives you a back button and common actions if you so wish to turn it on in the options.  This is shown right above the keyboard though it does hide other action bars shown in certain apps so you will have to hide the keyboard to see them.

Kudos to BBItalia for spotting this one in Michael Clewley’s BBM channel!

  1. I hope this is gonna be optional :(

  2. Beauty Clewley! 10.2.1 looks like a large step up. So when are we getting officials?

  3. Awesome. The gesture-based OS, as simple as it is, is confusing to many at first. They get frustrated.

  4. The PlayBooks gesture-based OS helped my wife learn the Z10 quite quickly. She’s an expert, and admits gestures are amazing and super easy to learn. Using any other phone feels old to be now.

BBRY needs to aggressively educate people about BB10 and bow its a step into the future.

  5. I’m running 10.2.1.1925 and don’t see the option to turn it on. I notice that I do have the action bar for texts, but it’s not there/available in BBM chats.
