"Shift to Select Text" Returning in BlackBerry OS 10.2.1 (Aka "Running Shift" with Trackpad)

 Select Text

Michael Clewley, Product Manager at BlackBerry, just dropped another interesting detail about OS 10.2.1 in his BBM Channel. He said that the “Running Shift”, as BlackBerry calls it, is returning in OS 10.2.1. This is similar to how we used to hold the shift key while selecting text with the trackpad on legacy BlackBerrys. You simply hold the shift key and them move your finger ANYWHERE on the screen to move the cursor and do text selection. Pretty sweet!!!

Here is to hoping more of this stuff is coming soon!

  1. Not sure if the functionality in OS10.2.1 has been modified, but this works with my Q10 running OS10.2.

  2. How about copy phone numbers from contacts and flicking pictures left and right in the file manager…please oh pretty please…just the basics.

  3. This feature is annoying as hell on my Z10. When you touch the screen, the cursor becomes GIGANTIC and pretty much impossible to place with any precision. In fact it becomes so big that it actually makes the screen start scrolling around everywhere except where you want to select text. I hate it.

  4. For selecting text i just tap and hold, it selects the word, keep holding it selects the sentence, keep holding and the select grows until you release.
